If you've rescanned your DTT equipment today, you'll have noticed that Smile TV 2 is now broadcasting on Ch 46, on the SDN Multiplex. Considering it's rather overcrowded as it is, it appears they've added another channel or time sharing elsewhere that I don't know of. Anyone feel free to correct me there.
Anyway not much on there, Girl in a bikini trying to get horny over phone calls...
Actually the channel started at 10am this morning on freeview.
It started with "Good Morning Chat" presented by some woman and a life coach. The show is squashed in to a box at the top left corner of the screen with another box for text messages.
It does seem a waste of space. It's currently showing a "programmes start at 9pm" slide. 3 hours of a video of a purple mess and naff music. How long is the video stream available? It is 24 hours or what does it share with?
Why on earth do OFCOM give licences to crap like this - surely there should be some sort of value test for a platform where bandwidth is limited.
It wouldn't be so bad if it was just filling downtime, but it seems to have a 24/7 stream - even if it's only airing a few hours a day. And as low quality a stream it may be, surely something like Setanta Sports News would be of greater benefit to the viewer - and to Setanta themselves who would then have an outlet to push their subscription service directly to Freeview viewers.
terrestrial TV should not have porn, shopping, bidding, quizzes or any filler rubbish on it ever.

Bidding - no, definately not.
Quizzes - only the ChallengeTV kind please...
Filler Rubbish - What - like Polyfilla?
