I am quite sure that if you asked all the members on this site if they like the current itv or prefer to return to regional companies the regions would win hands down! Now I know that is not going to happen but it does tend to get my back up when someone from Yorkshire says it can only be a good thing for SMG to hand over to itv plc!!

You have no idea at all about our situation.we are not a region in England!

I only hope (mish mash presentation or not) that we see Grampian & Scottish tv around for a long time yet!!

Would you like if we got the ITV1 presentation without the ITV1 logo? That seems reasonable to me.

I'm totally with Martin i'm afraid, there's no difference between ITV1 and the SMG stations. The rest of the UK coped with it (inc. Wales).

Why, what good does it do. Jeremy Kyle says, "coming up next on itv 1, this morning" does that not seem stupid. I am from London, we had 2 different channels, I always thought it was rubbish. Now why not save money, SMG become a content provider, re-invest the money they spend on the duplication, back into local programming and events.

People who hark back to the days of regional identities, can stay back in the 60s-70s, but we live in a global world, and why not bring consitancy to your regions, adopt the parent brand, but KEEP the local content, and even expand on it with the money saved.

What is the benefit of spending money on multiple adverts, multiple department heads, multiple continuity, multiple trails...

All for the sake of trying to make certain stubborn scots believe that they aren't watching TV from England. Put Scottish, Grampian or Scotland beneath the ITV 1 logo if it makes you feel better. Use Scottish personalities to introduce local programming, opt out of big Networked shows if you want, but save some money, make life simpler, and admit you're watching the ITV network, with local opt outs.

I agree with the presentation.........Grampian when it was owned and run from Aberdeen as an independant company used the generic ITV 89 logo right up to when SMG bought them over (nearly for 10 years) and I am sure they must hold the record for any itv company to use this ident! We all are aware that we are part of itv and I have no problem getting the network trailers but I dont want to see another Scottish broadcaster head south and swallowed up by a multinational.

I also would like to see the SMG announcers retained anyway if they were not I would love to hear the network announcers introduce some of the Gaelic shows!!

Indeed. I'd rather see local programming than local presenation (which is awful).

Who knows, maybe SMG will decide to adopt the new look.

And I hope they do.......but I doubt it!! As I have said Grampian used the 89 itv ident for years and for a while announced "ITV for North Scotland this is Grampian Television" something along these lines would work fantastic!!

Nothing I've heard (indirectly) about the move to PQ gives me hope for the future. It really will be nothing more than an office block, with a threadbare handful of creative talent involved.

That said, the cost of having SMG branded trails won't be a million miles from taking Network ones; so I'm not expecting a loss of the regional stamp.

Just what SMG did in Aberdeen when they sold off Queens Cross.....now we have a broom cupboard studio at a tin hut industrial estate!!

I don't think they should get rid of the regional content and opt outs from the network, but instead of trying to cover up the fact they are relaying ITV 1, and all the extra costs involved in multiple trailers etc.

Adverts can use a single logo, no need to edit ECPs etc. Its like rebadging a car and selling it as new, Scottish TV is just a bunch of programmes and a logo, the channel is ITV.

And while we're on the subject, GMTV should be a programme on ITV1, not treated like another channel, and GMTV2 should just be a Kids strand on ITV2.

If it was that simple, then why do BBC brand everything BBC ONE Scotland or BBC TWO Scotland with different announcers? It's not anti-English, they just know that national identity is important to Scottish viewers and something that can keep them happy.

Its a stupid remnant of a disembodied comapny/channel, and it should be unified, cost savings, and allow the current owners to still provide the programming.

...ooh, I spot a floating voter. You'll be votong for David Cameron next time then Martin?

This may sound such a stupid question but why did they decide on the ITV headquarters in London, why not Birmingham, Manchester, or Leeds?

I am proud to be northerner and felt very alienated when ITV regionas became part of a LONDON company. Do Londoners know what northerners, welsh or ever south wetsterners want to watch or when to watch it. I personally feel that ITV is geared up for the people of LONDON and the South East.

Whilst UTV and Scottish/Grampian are still independent, be independent - don't let London control what you watch. Does it really matter what type of trailers you have, just as long as you are free from the dreaded south.

There is far too much dictatorial editrship coming from London, but London is not the only part of the UK - it may have the densist population, but it is only about 10% of the total population of the country. So why should 10% of the people tell the other 90% of the people what to watch and when.

Fiscally, it was very inevitable that all ITV licences would join together, just to stop duplication and save money. But why London???????? when about 50% of the programmes HAVE to be made outside London. How many network programmes are actually made in and around London?

Thank you!!

I wonder what sort of response we would get if itv said they were closing network centre and moving everything to Aberdeen and 99% of the announcers would be from Scotland and all the programme output. trails and scheduling would be done up North.

ITN studios could be in Dundee??

I wonder what London would make of that??
