the UTV clean feed is the same as ITV1 except the credits run without any ECP. If UTV don't time it right, which is quite often, you can see the ITV1 logo when UTV opt back into the feed at the wrong time.
But why are UTV getting a non clean feed now, can't they just ask the guys to give them a clean feed, or does it cost?
When ITV1 presentation was centralised in London (I know some still originates via Leeds) the line, AFAIUI, that was previously used to send a Clean Feed of network programmes to the regional centres was, from that point, used to send ITV1 network 'presentation & programmes' as a package to the regional centres for distribution to transmitters.
UTV and SMG were faced with opting in and out of a dirty feed.
After a while the dirty feed was replaced with a slightly cleaner version (initially a non-synchronous feed with flashes between each event in the network schedule).
The 'Clean Feed' they now use is up-stream of DVEs, DSKs, and the announcer: sound and vision from all other events is still there, so if UTV are slow to opt-out or opt-in too early you will catch a glimpse (or sometimes a lot more than a glimpse) of ITV1.
As this feed of ITV1 is announcer-less, the overnight service which UTV takes from ITV1 now has no announcements. Lots of clean ITV1 idents for those who wish to record them!
A lack of announcer is nothing new to UTV viewers, as the local announcers only work from approx' 5pm to midnight.
Its becoming more widespread as ranghers fans throughout scotland wave brittish flags and celtic supporter wave irish ones...nor do i.
Sorry to go off-topic but this is partly nonsense. As a Rangers supporter, I am proud of the clubs' British
and
Scottish roots. We wave both the St. Andrews Cross and the Union Flag at Ibrox. Please do not include us as hating the Scottish nationality with those who think they're Irish.

FYI Im a rangers supporter too I just dont like the bigotry and racism which follows the club around...I to am proud of its roots but thats not what we are here to discuss...
Just out of interest, what type of promo style is in use up in Scotland at the minute? Did they take on the new ITV1 style like UTV did? If not, what are they using?

Just as before..........the four blue boxes and text at the end of the promo.
It is a shame they did not go along the lines of UTV! I think the Northern Ireland station idents are great (better than the itv ones) and would have worked so well at Grampian!
I sent an email to smg about the dated presentation of Grampian and Scottish tv and this is the reply I recieved:

Dear Mr Taylor,
Thank you for contacting Scottish TV.
We are currently undergoing a revue which includes looking at how we may
update our current idents. However, at the present time I have no
specific information on when and if this is definitely going to happen.
I have registered your comments formally and a copy will be sent to our
Managing Director for his consideration.
Yours sincerely,
