Oh what a shame poor STV having to take Grampians programmes.................erm have you seen Burn Your Bills.........its that dreadfull show that we (Grampian) have to put up with so come on please!!!!
This shouldn't be a STV v Grampian battle - neither station should be showing the other's programmes. We should have proper regional programming - programmes for both local stations, and news programmes which focus 99% on their local area. (only breaking out for a story which affects the whole country which happens outwith the patch, like Lockerbie).
Although Burn Your Bills can't be any worse than Top Club...
It seems ITV Wales have taken some tips from Scottish.
There haven't been any end credit coming next thingies all night and the announcer hasnt spoken either.
It's great to see some full screen credits but usually an announcer still speaks if nothing happens visually!
I thought the exact same about that male announcer on 3rd of Feb. The announcer tonight seems more informative and seems to have more energy than alot of the others.

Top Club was scrapped over 6 years ago - and yes I think it was better than Burn Your Bills!!
Top Club was the first in a series of terrible programmes which were shown for the first time in the central belt when Grampian was first taken over, along with North Tonight and some football cup final. It was almost as if SMG were trying to prove a point to the Glasgow-based media that the quality was so poor that they had to change it. (Either that or, of course, they were just trying to save some money)
Either way, North Tonight may have looked terrible, Top Club may have been twee and the quality of the cup final presentation was abysmal, but at least they were being produced - there's absolutely no real local programming on SMG stations now.
And you're never quite sure if the quality of programmes has improved when they come up with guff like Burn Your Bills or Scotsport SPL.

Well there are loads of people up here in the north who I have spoken to would love to see LOCAL programmes made in Aberdeen, Dundee and the Inverness areas once again!!
There has been a huge depredation in the quality of everything on Grampian since the (ahemm) merger of the two stations.
You may at one time laughed and mocked us down in STVland 10 years or so ago but who is laughing now??

None of us. SMG have really made Scottish/Grampian TV utter cr*p. I really wish they would provide us with local programming because at the moment, I don't really see the point in having Scottish TV and Grampian TV because it is practically the same as ITV1 (excluding regional news). They seriously need a rethink about what they should do.
I am wondering if there is a case for re-advertising SMG's franchises. Scotland is supposed to have two separate ITV stations (3 if you count Border), but what it presently has is a single station with a split news service which happens to be branded as 'Scottish' or 'Grampian' depending on which part of the country you are in.
Although shared regional programmes are nothing new, when SMG comission only a single programme to cover pretty much all non-news regional slots on both stations, can these still be classed as 'regional'?

This was raised with the then ITC when Grampian were first taken over. The union at Grampian along with many NEast MP's raised the issue with the ITC for doing exactly what you are saying. If I recall they (SMG) got a wrap over the knuckles for this? They promised to improve the service but it is slowly getting back to where it was again. I think the offical watchdog just don't care anymore!!
I think SMG caved in to some degree and agreed to provide one properly regional programme a week - hence Grampian Midweek and..... well.... whatever the memorable Scottish TV programme was at the time when the decision was made. They seem to have reversed on that since. It might be worth anyone suitably annoyed by the current situation contacting OFCOM, although given their reputation they'll probably decide SMG don't need to make any regional programmes.
Incidentally, when was the last time Davina McCall was on ITV? I only ask as SMG have just shown the ancient Davina ident at 3.30am in their junction in to Entertainment Tonight as part of their "Night Time TV" set. The ident was so extended that it went on beyond Davina and on to the exciting background behind the set.
If she was on some programme last week, or anything like that, feel free to point that out, and I'll stop being a smart a***.
The choice of idents continues to be baffling - Ant and Dec continue to be the pre-Nightscreen choice, despite being on primetime, and therefore perfect to be shown at Saturday peak. But instead they show Bernard Ponsonby, or someone like that, before a Saturday night show.

Davina featured in Denis Norden's Laughter File yesterday.
Re Ant and Dec, try watching Grampian where their ident is used a lot. In fact, it was the one into Millionaire last night, and was used this afternoon at the 13.45 p.m. junction.
