so it looks like there are no regional idents at all now? Crying or Very sad

England doesn't have any at 7.30 on Thursdays for some reason, they didn't last week but did at 23.00

There won't be any now at all.

Having just looked at the last ident on itv 1 Wales it seems the text is now centered underneath the itv portion of the logo. It still doesnt look right but a bit better!

Has this been confirmed?, this is disgraceful, it will be only a matter of time before all the regional shows get renamed.

I hate ITV PLC! Mad

Well those regions only got a few regional idents a week anyway. They are still called ITV Border, ITV Central etc just not on screen.

We only got about one, and only in a tiny font. It's hardly been a major issue for years now

This is exactly what ITV wanted. They started phasing the regions out gradually in 1999, and even more so three years later. They have finally succeeded; the names have now disappeared altogether.

Well yes you are right -- as before Waterfront

And also the treat of not having it ending with a freeze and white dotted lines along the top.

Why does the 'Wales' take so long to appear/disappear in the Market ident? Where is that market? Is it Cwmderi?

HTV, Carlton & LWT viewers lost their own regions identity back in 2002. You must of seen this coming.

Yeah it's hardly surprising.

At the end of the day ITV is only a few years away from becoming just one of many channels across the board, in all households in the UK. That they've used this as an excuse is regrettable, as now they have no USP, but that's their bed, and now they'll have to live in it.

Can't say I'll have any sympathy for them when they're inevitably swamped in a few years.

In the state ITV's in (And NO Andrew I'm not anti-ITV) they might as well be snapped up by RTL.

Yesterday I looked at the TV listings for ITV in The Sun and I saw a good fair of programmes (at least 5 of them) like the JK show, Dickenson's Real Deal, The I'm a Celeb spin off that the welsh don't deserve to see on their screen.

Please can you explain exactly what it is about these programmes that would make them unsuitable for the Welsh, but (by implication) fine for the English, Scottish and Northern Irish.

Ok, sorry if I have confused anyone there, but I was making a what if of what would had happened if someone miracolously with a heart for local viewers and a hefty amount of money decided to disband HTV from ITV plc and it became a welsh funded channel.

I had discussed a similar thing with someone else from another forum and he had some good ideas of what would had happened if it did except that he had some slightly different views.

That paragraph you had quoted of, I was explaining the typical, low quality daytime programming like the JK show where it would be replaced by some local programming.

The person I was discussing with soon suggested that the same could have happened to STV and UTV (in another thread it was said that NI had over 30 indepandent producers)because they could just pick up key programmes like Corrie and had local programming too and obviously I forgot to say this so I apologise to any Scots and Northern Irish I had offended by missing them out.

I would like every region to make local programming but I know it won't happen because most of the ITV plc regions would rather have a networked schedule.

I have looked at the TV guides quite often and have noticed the local programming being shown at 11pm or later. I find that appaling because local programing shouldn't be on late as people obviously have to go to bed but that type of programming should be in a daytime slot where more would get the chance to watch them.

So to wrap that up my idea was just an APFS style what if of what would have happened if HTV became independent again and became a local TV service like UTV. I'm quite aware most of you are saying regional ITV won't come back but since we cannot verify it's gone for good we have to find out for ourselves.

Good night,
Daniel
