It might dominate the ident too much, but I'd rather the "Wales" bit was aligned horizontally with the "1" and positioned after the yellow bar.
And though it's the only remaining bit of Welsh identity on the ITV1 Wales idents - I think I'd rather it be just "ITV1" rather than slapped on as an afterthought!
At least with the squares they actually incorporated it into the ident!

I agree. It does seem to be an afterthought. Its a pretty poor show if the only regional identity left is the word Wales put onto the idents any old way.
I really hate the ITV1 Wales idents as well because they're poor, uninspiring and poop.
I had an idea some while ago to save HTV (and other regional companies) by rounding up a consortium of ex-managers and executives who know how to properly run an ITV company so that they could disband HTV from ITV plc.
The problem with this is sorting out HTV West's branding due to it being an english region but HTV Wales would have it's identity retained and the channel would become like S4C where they don't have to obey the ITV network and only present the core assets like Coronation Street.
Yesterday I looked at the TV listings for ITV in The Sun and I saw a good fair of programmes (at least 5 of them) like the JK show, Dickenson's Real Deal, The I'm a Celeb spin off that the welsh don't deserve to see on their screen.
And another good suggestion said by someone else was that if HTV was to return they would need new studios/offices in the north and central and those places could be Wrexham and Aberystwyth where Welsh programming can be broadcast and a better news service.

The idea is extremely far-fetched not to mention pointless, ITV West is still a smaller region.

Please can you explain exactly what it is about these programmes that would make them unsuitable for the Welsh, but (by implication) fine for the English, Scottish and Northern Irish.

I was wondering that as well.
I looked in my tv guide and saw that ITV Wales have 11 non news regional programmes next week, although a lot of them are after 11pm so not in peak time. But compaired to the English regions who have just 3 (1 in peak time, 2 after 11pm) you can see how much better ITV Wales are at regional programmes.
Well no, all it does is show you that ITV PLC are obliged to fill more hours with uninspired filler in the ex-HTV Wales region than their other properties.
I believe that ITV took the decision to launch with a small number of new idents as they were anxious to get rid of the old ones, even if it meant that a small number were in use in the meantime.
The dreadfully crude way that "Wales" is overlaid is crazy. Frankly, it would take very little to get ITV's playout system to show an appropriate regionally branded ident at every junction - for every region. The production cost of each ident is very low, as you simply modify the text on the generic original.
I don't expect regional voice-overs, but ITV should commit to always use these prior to regional programming. At present, only one of ITV's Thursday regional programmes is deemed worthy of one, with national presentation being (inappropriately) used for the others.
As I have said before in other threads, the regional centres should be provided with a selection of pre-voiced idents to use prior to the 6pm News programme. These would be simply be played out locally, rather than the programming "crashing" in from the preceeding trailers.
ITV could easily fix many of its presentation issues, with very little work. The fact that they are choosing not to cannot be accidental - Deliberately reduce the number of viewers to ITV's regional programming, in order for it to justify to OFCOM that there are no longer a significant number of people interested in such programming.
