Not sure if it was just a one off, probably not though. After this morning's Sunday AM with Andrew Marr, there was a trailer for Waking the Dead, instead of the normal red shutters, they appeared to be transparent red.
You could see shots of the programme through it, can't remember what colour the text was, but still had the red boxed BBC One logo in the bottom left corner.
The trailer also began with a kind of reverse-shutters type thing - with the large |T|H|E| ONE logo filling the screen. The top quarter of the screen, containing "|T|H|E|" wiped up, and then the bottom half with the "ONE" wiped down. In this case, though, the red background was opaque as usual.
The endboard looked quite nice, I thought - though perhaps this trailer style
may
only be used for those programmes which carry "The ONE to watch" tagline.
Saw the trailer about an hour ago and it looked so much better than its current version. It looked very professional. Hope its brought out across all trailers for BBC One.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the image behind the transparent red board is static. It would look so much better if the video continued playing, perhaps even in slow motion.
It seems that BBC Two, probably (in my opinion), the channel in the most need of looking at, is the only one to still be using the original style trailers! The new menus are alright, but to me they just serve to further confuse BBC Two's look. They use a completely different style and font to the rest of BBC Two's presentation. When they first came in, I thought that style would be used for the trailers too, but alas this wasn't the case.
BBC Three's new trailer style is a massive improvement on the old, and I always liked BBC Four's old ones, which were very classy, but the new ones are also interesting and different.
I'm not yet convinced that this new transparent red style for BBC One
is
going to be rolled out across all trailers, as the only trailer I've seen like it so far is Waking the Dead one.

I do like the look of the new BBC One trail and it looks a lot more professional IMO. As for BBC Three I think that blends in nicely with the rest of pres but I don't like the mix of colours for BBC Four. Saying that I was against changing anything from BBC Four.
As for BBC Two I do agree that it is all a mix. We have the old style trails, the yellow idents and then a different shade of yellow for the upcoming programmes. However these are branded as '2Night on Two' not BBC whereas the idents and the trails brand it as BBC Two. It needs to be sorted out and just have one look - to be honest I think if BBC Two adapts BBC One's style but have purple shutters not red. I'd also change the upcoming menus to brand it as BBC Two not just Two.
