Did anyone noticed that slight change too in BBC World new breakfiller graphics?

The bottom strap is somewhat larger than the rest of the graphics and when the breakfiller fades away you see that the bottom strap was simply patched onto the original graphics. You can also see that it dissappears a bit earlier than the rest...

More witnesses?

I noticed they did that before the Concorde coverage, because they changed schedule at the last minute.

It seems to happen more in breaks - "BBC NEWS continues".

I prefer the original has it has the seconds until the programme starts! MInd you theres not much news these days. Theres too many breaks. After every report you seem to get "heres whats coming up in the programme" or "stay tuned" Rolling Eyes

It's been in use on and off for quite a while, I've an inkling it's an opt-out kind of deal for when different regions of the world get different programmes.

That big strap it apparently used when the software fails for some reason, or when the scheduling details on the real breakfiller is incorrect.

That's exactly what it seems to be used for. And judging by how often it's used, I reckon they have a lot of problems with that software.

Whenever I switch onto World, that big strap always seems to be on, so I'd agree with you, probably the software that BBC Broadcast designed is too complex for BBC World presentation!

Hi.

I don't suppose anyone had any screen grabs of this, do they? Unfortunately I have no access and the PC I am on doesn't allow RM anyway.

Thanks,

I only have a screengrab of the 'normal' breakfiller, so to speak, but I'll try to get a grab of the other strap as and when it's used!

I may as well mention this here, its happened a couple of times this week and it seems odd to me.

During the morning shift (Lyse or Mike) has handed over to Aaron for the business news as usual. Then half way through the business news Aaron has stopped and said "This is BBC World". Then the generic (overnight) sting played without the BBC NEWS logo and into a break. No hand back to Lyse / Mike, just flopping out of the bulletin with this sting.

This sting was then played again and Lyse popped up carrying on the bulletin.

Had Lyse suddenly been struck with a sudden bout of diarrhea and was unable to link into a break herself??

Lol, no! When we go back to GMT (rather than BST in the summer), a few things alter on World. For example, some editions of Asia Today move back an hour, as do some editions of Hard Talk, WBR and Sport Today. Another change is that there is not usually a break during the 0800 bulletin, but they do have one during 1100. The way they've been doing it this week is like they did it last year - business presenter links to break, then the news presenter returns with the headlines. If they're using the generic sting, it makes me think that they're broadcasting on something like BBC America/Canada or a PBS station etc.
