Yes, it's been used since the channel's launch last February, on things like the Introducing... show for Game of Thrones. I quite like it. I think that background was used initially as an advert endboard when they advertised the 9pm shows, like Big Love and The Sopranos, until they started using the generic Sky Atlantic one that shares its design with the other channels.
Sky Sports seem to using new 'This is Sky Sports HD' titles before the start of programming on SS1,2,3 and 4. No change on Sky Sports News. It follows the design introduced in the new promo endboards used for the past couple of months.

Probably because their "20 years of Sky Sports" is now a bit out of date!
Sky seem to be the only broadcaster that have figured how to use Product Placement effectively.
For example, in a League of their Own on Sky1HD, there is a sponsorship sting for Kinect Sports, before a pre-title sequence featuring the guests, where you see them using Kinect, in a party-style scenario. And then, on top of this, one of their challenges featured Kinect Sports recently.
Saw a PP logo before Got to Dance, too, and so I presume something similar is in use there, but with Dance Central 2 for Xbox, or something.
