I do think the current idents are pretty bland, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at a different set this time next year.

In terms of Christmas idents, is there not a chance the previous ident could reappear in a modified form? I quite liked it...

Invent Merdian, have you even watched Sky1 recently? It is a much better channel programmign wise than Challenge, which is a repeat channel - full stop. It has no new commissions. Sky1 has much better programming than Challenge will ever have.

Agreed, don't see why sky hasn't closed challenge. I would rather have Bravo still on the air.

They closed Bravo and Channel One because Sky claimed that their programming was too similar to what suited their own channels. Even though I think that's bull, Challenge is a one of a kind channel and it'd be stupid to close it. In the same way the only true "classic" TV channel we had, UK Gold (before Plus died) is now a sole comedy channel, leaving us with nothing for old shows.

UK Gold, for the last 5 years it existed under that name, was pretty much what Watch is now (e.g. rubbish). It stopped showing decent, old, non-comedy content around 2005.

TNA, which admittedly was inherited from Bravo, isn't a repeat. And yes, they do have new commissions, several of their gameshows were made especially for the channel. They also air a video game review programme late at night on the weekend, not sure if this was also inherited from Bravo or not though.

I don't think BskyB are strapped for cash in any shape or form - last time I checked the finance reports they were cutting debt, raising profits and had a healthy surplus.
With regards to British idents despite the channel showing US shows, which was mentioned on the last page, it would be wrong to do that because Sky Atlantic is the "exclusive" American television channel and therefore why would they also have American idents on Sky One as well.

TNA is just a leftover contract which I'm sure Sky will try and move to Sky Sports when the contract runs out.

Oh you mean Family Catchphrase and Dave Spikey's Bullseye, both of which are no longer in production and haven't been for quite a while? Yeah, you got me there.

I read (admittedly on the old Challenge Forum so massive pinch of salt needed) that the contract was renegotiated as a result of the closure of Bravo 2. Sky's contract with WWE supposedly prevents them from showing other similar content on Sky-branded channels, so the only place it can go is Challenge (and I guess PickTV now).

Yeah, sorry Phil, you're wrong, TNA will never move to Sky Sports, the WWE contract prohibits it.

And there are more recent shows than Bullseye, I think you'll find.

I noticed this nice montage of Sky Sports logos as a 20th Anniversary ident during the 'Free Weekend':

I don't usually get the sports channels, as I mentioned, I only saw it because of the 'Free Weekend'. Perhaps some other people hadn't seen it either.

Oh, I'm sorry I can't read super secret contracts about television wrestling deals! I was just going from assumption.

Thanks WillPS.
