Probably more Warner Brothers' doing to be honest.

Pretty ironic that Fox forced one onto a Sky ident then, considering they're both controlled by Murdoch!

I really would'nt be surprised if sky1 rebrands again soon. The current idents theme is reflecting life in the 'UK' - was this a good idea, Sky1 has a lot of American shows. The actual '1' is real making it hard to create more idents because it has to be shipped to the location. These idents were not designed to allow program specific idents, resulting in the poor Trollied and Glee idents. I don't know what it is with sky they get proffesionals to design the orginal idents and then extra additions always seem to be done in house (poorly most of the time). This even happened with the blue solid idents, the '1' in the Angela and Friends and Pineapple Dance studios idents was clearly different and not as professional as Jon Yeo's originals.

I'm sorry, but I just can't agree with your point of view.

Over the past few days, you've been complaining that because just two idents don't match the overall theme, the entire theme of the idents, and of the Channel pres, is ruined, and you're acting as if none of it fits in. The simple fact of the matter is, that what you're saying just isn't true. Overall, the idents and pres. are all quite linked in. Only one ident in rotation doesn't tie in, and that will only be aired when Glee is on.

You talk of 'presentation standards dropping so low', when in-fact, you're talking about a few small, and quite minor things, which are barely effecting the package. One ident will not ruin the entire presentation set of a TV channel.

Therefore, I think you're over-reacting. And, besides, when you call for a re-brand now, six months ago all you could do was praise Sky1...

Yes Critique I did praise the new look Sky1, I do believe 2 idents can ruin the entire look of the channel. They should not have aired the Glee and Trollied idents. There seems to be nobody bothered to get the chrome '1' into the idents, would not be surprise if the Christmas ident won't feature the '1' either. I say use the '1' in all the idents or ditch it completely - I like consistency. If either of the new idents were in the gallery they would have been criticized. Even if the idents will only be used rarely look at the excellent '24' ident that was used for about 3 weeks!

Don't be ridiculous, Sky 1 is fine as it is, then again I never watch it. From what I can work out from this thread is that two additions to the current set do not have the 'mirror 1' as the standard set. Have you realised yet? Yes I said 'standard set' which implies that these two idents are temporary and will probably not be used after their respective series have finished. So stop whining, idents cost money and it is not worth it just to promote two terrible series. The additions also have the rather nice Sky 1 logo so they still match the standard set in that respect.

One more thing, it is likely they did make a standard Christmas ident as these are normally part of every channels rebrand package, just like it was in the previous Sky 1 ident set.

I have been in contact with Guy Soulsby the creator of the original set and he has not been contacted by sky to create a Christmas ident for the channel. If money is a problem for sky (which I highly doubt) don't rebrand challenge and save the money for sky1. The trollied and glee idents would work as stings but they should not be used as idents.

Although Sky 1 is really the fourth television channel in the United Kingdom (not Channel 4), Challenge desperately needed a rebrand (although rebranding as Sky Challenge would have been better) and quite frankly (just to save arguments 'in my opinion') is a much better channel than Sky 1. British Sky Broadcasting are probably strapped for cash after spending millions of pounds on importing rubbish foreign programming, it would have been cheaper in the long run to build a new studio complex and make more original programming of UK origin.

As for the Christmas Sky 1 ident, well, British Sky Broadcasting clearly didn't want to spend money on the Christmas ident after spending a fortune rebranding almost every channel they operate.

Invent Merdian, have you even watched Sky1 recently? It is a much better channel programming wise than Challenge, which is a repeat channel - full stop. It has no new commissions. Sky1 has much better programming than Challenge will ever have.

Agreed, don't see why sky hasn't closed challenge. I would rather have Bravo still on the air.

The last Sky branding I really liked was the original "sky onc" brand. Everything since has been a bit balnd.

And for what it's worth...imo 'An Idiot Abroad 2' last night was one the the funniest things on TV all year.
