Sky-related as I didn't want to make a new thread, but UKTV are launching Watch, Dave and Alibi in HD on Sky as well as on-demand content.

Good news Very Happy

Very bizarre that Virgin have a 50% stake in UKTV but does not carry any HD or VoD from UKTV.

Good to see HD spreading - at the very least it will improve the SD picture quality!

Wasn't there talks of Virgin selling their stake? I seem to recall a bit of confusion as to whether or not they were still in control seeing as VMTV fell into the hands of Sky.

Virgin's stake was sold this week to Scripps who own Food Network.

Where's the confirmation? It's been set to happen for nearly a year now...

Broadcast and probably Media Guardian as well. They've already said they intend to keep Food Network going alongside Good Food.

Forgive me for being sceptical - but Google News hasn't picked up anything and there's nothing to be found on MediaGuardian either?

I'm not sure the deal has taken place but Broadcast claim they're 'poised' to take over VM's share.

Hmmm now I'm looking properly they are on the verge but the deal hasn't quite gone all the way. I definitely did read the other day one of those opinion pieces talking about how it would be a new chapter for UKTV and that Scripps had said they would be keeping Food Network as it is.

In fact here it is:

Ah brill thank you Smile

I can see Good Food being closed in around 2 years time, regardless of what has been said.

I hope Really's schedule gets a little stronger, it has a high waffle to quality ratio as things stand. Perhaps content like The Hotel Inspector (which UKTV currently have for Home) could get a chance?

Since they seem to have a strong trading relationship with Channel 4 now as well, some of their cooking programmes could easily find a home on Good Food and/or Really.

Or vice-versa, Good Food being a better brand as it's attached to a magazine

Which has a licensing cost attached to it, I'd presume.

The new ident for trollied is a bit of a let down, how hard would it have been to bring in the model 1. But nice to hear the old ident music again Smile
