Sky's Branding

So the pink is out. Interesting....

That seems to me that it'll become very similar to how Sky 1 and Sky 2 operated in 1996/7, when they had nearly-identical logos and idents. Sort of like how Sky Sports is now.

That's interesting, I had assumed Sky2 would keep green and Sky3 would keep red... obviously not!

Edit: Sky Box Office certainly looks out of place now with its all caps logo.

Makes me wonder if the inclusion of the shattered ice/glass we previously saw alongside the new Sky 1 HD logo was a mistake, and we're getting a new set of presentation?

I hope not. The current Sky 1/2/3 idents are quite nice.

The idea of solid/liquid/gas is an unusual concept, and I thought it worked well for viewers of all 3 channels.

I shouldn't really be surprised considering the current colour of Sky3 will clash with Living, but I'm assuming Sky2 will be coloured blue as well?

As somebody else pointed out, the logos in the idents were physically there and not added in post-production. The logos could've been altered but the idents would've had to be changed. Also, the One account was easier to change as it was still left with the name "One Account" whilst "Virgin 1" minus the "Virgin" is "1".

That one account graphic must also have been re-created from scratch. It's not like they just painted out the Virgin logo, is it? They've changed the shape of the red bit.



Also could someone please explain what business Star Trek Voyager has doing on Sky Atlantic*? It's neither a HBO production (Viacom/Paramount) nor is it particularly an example of "the best telly on Earth". Surely it would have been better to put it back on Sky1 where it belongs?

It's padding out some of the daytime schedule up to 6pm.

The primetime slots are all HBO programmes.

Anyhoo, even though I probably know most Star Trek scripts word for word, I still enjoy my daily fix! They have to put it on somewhere!

Will there be a change to the Sky Sports and Sky News logos then, as they are now going for black more, i.e on the 'sky' bit? They would look quite nice in this style too.

It would be great for all the sky channels to adapt these new logos with the transparent glass effect for 'sky' and 'hd' sections of the logo. Sky Box Office, Sky Poker and Sky Vegas tv channels especially need to refresh.
