Looking at that table at the bottom of the link, it looks like the terrestrial HD channels aren't going to swap on the EPG, even though they're the most watched channels on television. I hope they do swap them around, otherwise it won't be as good a move as it could be.

Not going to happen until the HD channels are fully regionalised.

Have there been any estimates on how long that will take?

I bet Comedy Central/HD will be happy moving so far up the EPG too - that's always been far too low. And glad to hear MTV reclassifying itself at LONG last. I hope this new MTV Music channel has an HD version - their current pan-European version isn't great.

That's strange, when I had VM MTVNHD was the only pay-HD channel I watched for any length of time. I used to like how clean the whole channel felt compared to anything else.

Definitely not worth the £10/month fee while I'm stuck with Sky though!!

That Sky release says that Challenge is moving, but gives its new position as 125, e.g. the same as it is now!

A bit of a weird move to sell of some of the most valuable parts of the VMTV purchase, the EPG positions. It would have seemed more intuitive just to put Sky2, Sky3 and Sky Livingit on 112, 113 and 114. Now other broadcasters get that real estate, and the Sky1 and Living offshoots will have a harder time finding viewers.

Then again, the way BSkyB butchered VMTV after their purchase isn't the most conservative way of doing business, so I guess this move is consistent.

Now that it has happened, I think it will be a good thing. Moving Comedy Central, Universal, Syfy, FX and MTV to these great positions will be way better for competition than having BSkyB and the PSBs dominate the lower part of the EPG. Hopefully we will see increased viewing figures and better programming for these channels soon.

According to the Sky EPG and the listings on the Challenge website, Challenge are showing some episodes of "Play Along TV Scrabble" early tomorrow morning. A mistake or another go at making red button apps popular?

Play Along TV Scrabble was last shown several years ago, although the episodes have been shown several times since they don't normally have any play-along element.

I dare say they'll be showing them without the play along element and someone from sky just copied the original programme description. Not many people to play along at 4am

Very very cheap presentation though, will have cost less than removing the logo on the Virgin1 idents.

...really? How could anything be cheaper than returning to the masters and replacing any "Virgin1" logo with the "Channel One" logo?

The logo was a real physical thing in most of the idents and even if that wasn't the case it would be the firm that made them that would have kept any 'masters'.

Interesting a bit of channel jumping there - I'm guessing Sky have sold some slots then as I thought otherwise if slots became free everyone moved up, rather than channels being able to jump.

Also, where is Sky 3? I see Sky3+1 and Sky3D, but no Sky 3 itself. Would surely had been best next to Sky2 on 130, but Sky Living Loves gets that.

I assume you're talking about the document I created and linked to - Sky haven't said where Sky 3 will go yet. Likewise Sky Atlantic (standard def version for HD subs) and Sky Living It HD (launch date not announced).

Also, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Sky) Sky 1+1 is testing off the EPG at 12188 H 27500 2/3, labelled ShortsTV.

The obvious vacant channel numbers for these are 153 (next to Challenge +1), 172 and 173 (vacated by Living Loves and Living It +1) and 193 (vacated by FX HD), but Sky have said
Quote:
As result of the reshuffle, a further 12 Sky channels - including Livingit, Living Loves, Sky 2, Sky 3, Challenge and all associated +1s - will also relocate
so these could all end up anywhere there's a current Sky- or Universal-owned channel.

Wonder how Universal and MTV reached their deals to place their channels further up the EPG... presumably money involved.

Sky3 didn't really deserve such a high spot, however neat it looked in the EPG.

In fact, if I were Sky I would perhaps have kept the Bravo brand rather than Sky3 (and put that on Freeview, with adjusted/cheaper content), but then Sky are playing silly games with Freeview.

Seems Sky have sort of flip flopped on strategy there really. To start with they put up Sky Travel, which served as an infomercial most of the time, then they decided the best way to lure people in is to offer a 'taster', so they got Sky Three, now they seemed to have decided that deprivation is the best way forward.

Frankly - I don't see why they don't completely sell their Freeview capacity (perhaps retaining Sky News), its value is probably as high as it's ever likely to be.
