I was also hoping we'd either see a new set of idents for Sky Atlantic or some new additions at least. The launch look idents for the channel for me were just perfection, so I don't understand why they went from those to the two weird ones we have now.
Also one thing i've never understood is why is one of the idents set in Japan when Atlantic is meant to be about big US and UK dramas?? That's why the launch idents were perfect, they showed the US and UK in perfect comparison

The current concept for the idents though is fine, and is hardly "boring" (maybe not as complex as the previous one, but still fine); but it needs more variety, I agree

BTW I think it's a Chinatown in an American city (most likely New York); not Japan, especially as there's no hiragana/katakana in the neon lights, so typical of Japanese, instead
(Or maybe a Chinese city? Or Taiwan..)

Its Hong Kong, so not Japan like I said but not America like you'd expect from the channel.

I think the next thing to be rebranded after this phase has completed is the corporate logo itself, could imagine it being refreshed.

It's had a few refreshes over the last 8 years since they change the font. The latest flat 2D logo only came in last year. I can't see them drastically changing it any time soon.

As I said, after this phase is completed I can see it sometimes in the future, I didn’t mean straight away after these new rebrands.

Just noticed that the programme menu during the ad breaks still uses a white background, and still uses the old Sky1 2016 music.

That crisps ad is truly awful and cheap looking..

As far as I can tell - and please do correct me if I'm wrong - the Sky One 'Morse Code' break bumper sounds out 'SKD'
. . . S - . - K - . . D

Yes, it indeed spells out "Skd". Maybe "Sky" (.../-.-/-.--) wasn't catchy enough to them?

They probably just made a mistake. If so, expect it to be withdrawn soon.

Y is "- . - -", D is "- . ."; could the Y been cut off mid-dash to make a second dot?

Sounds likely, having viewed it on Ident Gallery. I bet an ident version would have the full name Sky One spelled out in that morse code audio. It would probably work better that way than as a 5 second sting.

Citation needed for all of that to be honest.

I wouldn’t expect any significant changes to the channel line up any time soon.

Free to air channels - Rebrand Pick into a bigger and better channel called TV11 (named after Freeview EPG slot), make Challenge into a bigger budget game show channel, put the little watched Real Lives channel on Freeview.

Sky are only allowed three slots on Freeview, so would have to remove Sky News for Real Lives, which wouldn't go down well in political circles.

Why is that rule still a thing anyway? Wasn't it supposed to be proportional at a time before switchover when there weren't as many available slots on Freeview as there are now? They should have their allowance increased.
