all they've changed is the logo, its just a half cooked revamp.

and they'll change nothing of Sky Sports, we will still the SD/HD programming nonsense to top it with a very new poor version of the existing logo, wasn't this whole revamp meant to get people to warm to the Sky logo, well it ain't working lol!

The logos are changing to become more consistent with the main sky brand, using the new logo and new typeface. Now as that is what has triggered the changes, I see no reason why they would have to change the whole look for the channels, especially as the Sky Movies branding is very good, and there is no real need to change it.

All in all, the implimentation of the new logo has gone well, and there is no need to change the rest of it, until the channel's direction changes, or the brand gets tired!

I do think the new logo works very well, however, this will always be the ultimate ident for me (I wish they'd even bring it back)...

I am so surprised that they kept the idea of a shiney lady when the 2001/2 new look came in, all be it silver. But it is not a very adaptable brand, which is what is nice about the coloured spotlights. Now I saw The Clone Wars on Sky Movies Family, and that special ident has been updated with the new logo.

The adaptation of the spotlights ident with the new logo, is done better than the german one IMO.

Sorry to return to an old point, but I agree with Jay that the 1998 is one of the all time greatest idents. You're right in saying it was odd they continued the shiny ladies into a look beyond the year 2000 - but the graphics on the 2002 idents were beautiful:

To this day, I still love the elasticity of particles at the end. Still makes my spine tingle!

mdta, you're right though - it's quite a difficult thing to carry through into a new look. It is a shame though, as the current Premiere ident is terrible (at least in comparison to the other channels)

To be honest, I find the whole current Sky Movies batch of idents to be uninspiring horrible and bland. The grandure (sp?) that once existed on the Premier channels has been completely wiped out.

Agree. They all seem a bit... lazy? Is that the right word? I like the idea, but some of them could have better.

I have to say that the rarely seen Sky HD ident, which usually accompanied HD movies via Anytime did attempt to reintroduce the grandeur. It has quite an, for want of a better word, epic-ness about it!

Don't think that was for Sky Anytime... IIRC there were channels called Sky HD 1 and Sky HD 2 at one point. They changed their names to Sky Screen 1 and Sky Screen 2 when SD versions became available afaik.

Correct, although they initially retained their names when SD versions were launched, as the SD simulcast channels now known as Sky Screen1/2 were originally labelled 'Sky Movies SD1/2'.

I really think they need to look at the branding to be honest - I mean, what the hell does 'Screen 1 and Screen 2' have to do with anything. Either call all the channels 'Screens', or call them Premier 2 and 3.
