There's been a few issues with graphics on Sky News today, they used a few wrong graphics at strange times, maybe they are testing something?

2+2 does not equal 500. Graphics issues do not mean that they’re testing things.

The last batch of graphics issues with Sky News happened when they were testing for the election and we're seeing very similar issues now to when we were then.

You’re miles off. Weeks in fact.

Edit: also, it’s a 24/7 live channel. There are going to be issues from time to time.

I hope sky 1 keep there idents they got now if they change them to people idents I think I'm going to throw my tv out the window

If they copy BBC One then I'm never watching it again. Not sure that I would throw my TV out the window though.

They show programmes as well, you know.

Even then, some of the idents on Sky 1 don't even use the logo, so I think the 1 might still be in use when the new logo comes out. Maybe the 1 jumps out the ONE somehow.

All that and...
You don't 'test' graphics in a live environment. Pick a test server, route the text from live on to that, and have a play away from viewers eyes.

Plus, given the news today out of Las Vegas - I would have thought any pre-planned test, would have been halted fairly sharpish to divert resources to feeding the live programme graphics.

As much as I like the current idents, I don't think the above idea would work well. If they want to keep the '1' character why would they be changing the name of the channel? From the images of the new Sky Living idents and the improvements in presentation across the channels over the last few years I trust they will produce something decent for Sky1. Mixed CGI / Live action presentation similar to Sky Uno in Italy could work well on the channel.

^Won't be surprised if that's exactly what they do. Sky Uno is the Italian Sky One, so I would expect the plan to be a set of idents that can be used on both, as well as Sky One Germany.

I don't think it will happen, but the '2' co-existed with both the 1997 and 2002 BBC Two logo.

Reading between the lines, it looks like this is effectively going to be a Now TV style service but they're using the Sky brand as it'll be there main outlet there.

It’s seems that the Spanish service is indeed based on Now TV, using Sky branded Roku boxes too.
