I wonder what's next then, Sky Atlantic, Sky 2 (if they persist on keeping it), Sky News will also be the odd one out using uppercase and a different light effect. Then comes the other non-TV brands like Sky Bet, Sky Bingo etc which still use the pre-2009 font.
Atlantic and Arts would generally get the same treatment as we've seen from Sky One and Sky Living. Would expect the new look to be launched either in October or November.
I’ve honestly thought sky’s branding has left a lot to be desired since the end of the 2008 era branding. Hopefully this is a step towards the right direction but we’ll just have to see...
The idents look nice but will be interesting to see how they work on screen. The perspective in the crime scene ident seems strange with the different angles.
From the way they have worded the tweet, it appears there will only be two Sky Living idents. Seems to be the trend with Sky, even the existing Sky Living package only has two. Sky Atlantic, Real Lives and Sky2 are both only using two idents as well. Sky1 has five and Sky Arts has three or four. It's a pity batches of idents are replaced rather than further developed. It would have been great if the current Sky1 and Sky Atlantic idents had been added to.
I hope the lack of publicity of Sky1's idents doesn't suggest they will just be live-action scenes or a return to programme specific idents.
The Sky Living HD Ireland feed has gone today, so it's looks like they winding down Sky Living
Huh?
1) Sky Living is getting a new logo
2) Sky Living is getting new idents
3) Sky Living has a bigger viewing share than Sky 2 and Sky Arts
4) The 10 most watched programmes on Sky Living achieve similar ratings to Sky 1
In what world would this mean that Sky are winding down Sky Living?
The Sky Living HD Ireland feed has gone today, so it's looks like they winding down Sky Living, making the upcoming idents a stopgap if it happens. Maybe they would launch a Sky Box Sets channel where it would use as a promo for On Demand services.
I'm going to have to agree with TV Insider, that is baffling logic you're employing there.
Quick thought - back when Sky's channel logos were all in lower case over various iterations in the 90s, Sky News was always the odd one out, with an upper case N - the thinking presumably being that "news" looked just a little too jaunty and informal when reporting on terrible disasters and atrocities around the world. Wonder if they might decide to do similar again.

They did of course have a lowercase 'news' in the early 00's...
A new ident possibly for Riviera. It must be a recent enough addition, definitely post the Sky Atlantic VIP launch. Not as good as the original two idents but nice to see more variety. Even if these idents are retained with the addition of the new logo they won't look half as nice without the beveled 3D glass effect. A video is available on Sky Atlantic: 2016 Idents page from Presentation Archive.
I wonder will the new Sky Living idents launch tomorrow. Monday would seem like a good time to launch, it would be strange for Sky Creative to post images of the finished product if the launch is a fair bit off. These things normally happen at 6am on the Sky channels. Perhaps 'Sky One' might appear back on the EPG for the first time since August 2008. I have recordings set! Normally twitter accounts can give a hint, but they still haven't updated to the current logo yet..
