Lots and lots of Sky 1 repeats. It's not in HD either. I can't remember the last time I watched it. It's getting less important on the Sky EPG, pre Sky Atlantic it was on 107, it was then on 121, until it got demoted to 129. Sky1 +1 was pushed up to 130 earlier this year.

The current Sky 2 is actually the second go they've had at a Sky 2 channel, as previously it used to do what Sky One does now, premier stuff before Sky One. When it was resurrected as a new sister channel, it became what 4Seven effectively is now, only with the Sky archive and a handful of other things that don't have anywhere else to live.
I dare say Challenge has a bigger budget than Sky 2.
Before Sky bought Flextech, they had the three general entertainment channels of Sky 1-3. Someone posted on here that Sky were planning to turn Sky2 into a Living TV rival before the acquisition. Sky's three general entertainment channels are now 1, Living and Atlantic. You do then wonder why they didn't just close Sky2 when they renamed Sky3 to Pick TV.
At one point, Sky2 were showing The Simpsons and teaser bumpers for Sky2 HD (which never appeared).
Considering Sky 1 has prominent sister channels called Sky Living and Sky Atlantic, I really do wonder why they still have a Sky 2.
Historic back when Sky only had a few channels, and not enough schedule space for US shows. It carried over and even added a Sky 3, until Sky brought Living, and launched Atlantic for it's HBO content. I doubt many would care if they ditched it (does anyone still remember Sky Soap, and Sky Travel?) but it can be useful to repeat some Sky 1 shows, offering another chance to view them, instead of using up Sky 1's hours for repeated content.
A new Sky1 ident for You, Me and the Apocalypse. Not sure if it is a one off ident or the beginning of a new look for the channel. All trailers and stings at the 9pm junction used the new Sky1 logo.
The 1 has been shortened to fit in with the style of the new Sky Europe logos. Note a faint gradient is visible which is the same as the Sky Europe look.
