That's just because ours has yet to be updated.
Yet for Europe, the Atlantic is in a normal font style, for the UK it's stretched vertically.

Personally I thought they would do the Sky Atlantic logo to match the new Sky 1 logo, but looks like they are going with the Sports style highlights etc.

Any chance that you could create a sky ONE in the same style to see if it would fit with the family of channels better than the numeral?

I feel it lacks something. A boldness. But tbh, I haven't found myself watching Sky 1 since the orange days...

Yes!
IMO that would sit better alongside the others and also would fall inline with their Italian counterpart.

What doesn't help IMO is Sky One doesn't really have a strong personality anymore. From the late 90s til the mid 00s the channel had a fairly fresh, trendy feel without having that arrogant "for the yoof" attitude tainting it, and I think the logos have managed to represent that in some way. Having what is essentially the name of the channel in a box doesn't portray that, but I guess that's because it doesn't have that feel anymore. Sky 1 doesn't really know what it wants to be anymore. I get the impression it wants to be Sky's flagship general entertainment channel, but that's too bland nowadays. It's not as bad as Watch but it seems Sky 1's purpose is so vague nowadays.

It's kind of suffered in the same way BBC2 has with content shifted over to Atlantic, Living and Arts leaving Sky 1 having to rebuild, and frequently changing their mind about what exactly it is they are trying to rebuild. It is getting there though and I think is the main place they now put British content. I think it is by quite some distance the number one subscription channel, certainly outside sport. Only looked at August but only Sky Sports Ashes came close to it's share.

The current original commissions for Sky 1 are IMO some of the strongest that they have had.
The next 6 months brings new series of;
50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, Duck Quacks Don't Echo, You, Me & The Apocalypse, Mount Pleasant, Stella, Karl Pilkington: The Moaning of Life, Agatha Raisin, Trollied, Ross Kemp (this time on Britain), Wild Things, Desi Rascals and A League of Their Own.
There is also new comedy with After Hours and Rovers, new drama with The Five & Lucky Man, new sports gameshow One Hundred and Eighty and new factual with A Big Cat documentary and Richard Hammond's Jungle Trek.
On top of this there are returning US shows with The Simpsons, Modern Family, Arrow, The Flash and Hawaii Five-O and the new mockumentary on the Muppets.
I feel like the channel is starting to find it's place again as the big entertainment channel and sometimes feels as though they are producing higher quality programmes than their counterparts.
It is their identity that is the problem. Since the solid, liquid & gas idents the channel seems to have been plonked into obscurity although making idents based around their shows was a better move than just those metal '1' original idents.
