Since they ditched the pink for Sky Living, they added that brushed metal effect

I can deal with the brushed metal, it's the beveled 'sky' I can't stand.

Yes I knew previously that it was brushed metal, but I've never seen the logo with that bevel before. It looks out of place with the rest of them. Makes the brushed metal stand out even more.

The whole brand is looking a little shabby right now. I'm guessing things will settle down a bit as the 3 european sky brands start to merge

During the Sky1 session at the Edinburgh International Television Festival the channel controller Adam MacDonald briefly mentioned that presentation on Sky1 will be updated sometime between the autumn and early next year.
For the first time in a number of years Sky1 actually has a consistent schedule and has struck a balance between homegrown and imported programmes that work well together. When Sky Living and Sky Atlantic launched Sky1's brand was diluted and had no direction. Hopefully now that the channel has a clear target audience the presentation of the channel will return to the standard before 2011.

I can imagine just how good that 90 idents would have looked in widescreen and HD. Smile

Is it me or does the old logo remind me of the old Sky logo used on Sky One's logo since 2002?

Very blatantly so unfortunately, no Sky Symphony jingle alas. Though I never got the "Sky The Movie Channel" thing.

The real thing:

Sky used a succession of logos in a similar style. Though before 1993 the 'Y" was different.

Can't beat the original IMHO.

It was a leftover from the BSB merger. Took them a few years to switch to the singular Sky Movies brand.
