Why are Sky Arts showing recent Hollywood movies?

That video is just a sample of the new menu uploaded to vimeo by the composer of the soundtrack and not a broadcast recording of it in use.

Some sources on DS are quoting TalkTalk's new channel line-up and some TV Listings magazines as showing SkyLivingIt as re-branding on 9 June as 'Sky Real Lives'. This would be part of their minor EPG re-shuffle and re-launch of Sky Arts (although it would be removed from their line-up).

However, I've not been able to find anything else which supports this suggestion. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

The original Sky Real Lives was the re-brand of Sky Travel, but closed back in 2010.

Channel number spring clean
On 2nd June, YouView will be making way for new TV Boost channels which means changing where you find your existing ones. But rest assured - all your favourite shows will be still be available. You’ll find your inclusive Sky channels on 301-306 and 401. And to find any other TV Boost channel numbers, simply follow the link below.

With fresh seasons of A League of Their Own, Strike Back and Modern Family on Sky 1, and Hannibal on Sky Living, we don’t want you to miss out.

Any shows that you have scheduled to record automatically will still record even though the channel numbers are changing. So you don't need to worry about missing a thing.

Your new Sky Arts super channel
Sky are merging Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 2 into an arts super channel. Sky Arts 2 will be removed between 6pm on 8th and 6am on 9th June, with the new look Sky Arts channel available from 10am on channel 305. Expect more of the shows you love, like comedy drama Birthday, tense contest Guitar Star, and arty romance The Marriage of Reason and Squalor.

Sky Livingit is changing its name
Reflecting its dedication to the best of reality TV, Sky Livingit will become Real Lives on 9th June. But don’t panic - all the progamming is staying the same. So you can look forward to even more fly-on-the-wall antics from shows like Nothing to Declare, RSPCA Animal Hospital, and Dog the Bounty Hunter. Hooray!
We’ll keep you up to date with new changes as they happen. Happy viewing!

Thanks, that seems to confirm what has been suggested.

I think the only reason they would drop the Sky prefix, is if they were going to use it as a highlight/repeats channel on Freeview. They currently have Pick+1 which could be used as such.

Oddly, there is no mention of any of this on Sky's website, or the hint of a new logo/idents.

No Pick +1 on Freeview anymore. It was replaced by Challenge.

That blows that idea out of the water then. Perhaps the omission of the Sky prefix is just an error by TalkTalk, or some other marketing move by Sky.

Perhaps confusion on TalkTalk's part, as there used to be a channel called Sky Real Lives between 2007 and 2010 - it was the replacement for Sky Travel.

The wording of their email sounds very much like it's been cribbed from a press release, so I'm not so sure. Assuming it's right, it sounds to me as though Sky are just distancing themselves from the lowbrow reality shows on the channel -- they are promoting themselves as a champion of the arts, remember, and Dog the Bounty Hunter doesn't really fit the profile.

Even this website entertainment.ie seems to be calling it Sky Real Lives.

I wonder if Sky will add 'Real Lives' to Now TV which is a more realistic option than Freeview unless they dump Sky News which is very unlikely?
