They've only just had a rebrand. Now while those of us remember 1990s era Sky and it's pechant for rebranding at riddiculously frequent intervals I think two weeks is a bit soon even for them.

That smacks of someone not being able to find the Sky Sports logo jpegs, and deciding to do the logo as it appears in the top right of the screen.

If that was going to be the new logo, we would have seen it from 6am on the 12th with the reboot of Sky Sports News.

And even then, the basic design of those Twitter screenshots would set the brand back 20 years if it ever went to air

Believe it or not, it's not that farfetched. Sky Sports 3 launched on 16 August 1996. They introduced the second set of tombstones in September. So the original Sky Sports 3 ident? It only lasted two weeks!

But the 2nd tombstone era was just an evolution of the previous set. This would be a complete change, and a backward step! Shocked

And here it is.

Just the Sky Sports 2 tombstone re-done, methinks.

Is there by chance a new ident for Sky one this evening? IE the flash?

No new idents yet.. Wouldn't expect any now - they usually start at 5 or 6pm. Arrow, Stella, East Coast Trains, Got to Dance, 24, Strikeback and Mooneboy are the only shows that air idents now. Not sure why the are still showing the 24, Got to Dance and East Coast Trains idents as no further episodes are planned.

There is a further Got to Dance episode planned for later this year, a farewell episode apparently.

BSkyB is set to change it's name to Sky after taking over the German and Italian versions.

Yep - makes sense given that it is no longer a British (and Irish) service and is now a UK / Irish / German / Italian service.
