Sky's Branding

Sky Atlantic launched in Italy last month, slightly different colour scheme to the BSkyB variant.





Meanwhile in Germany, where the brand launched in 2012, Atlantic follows the font style of other Sky DE channels.



Interestingly, both channels show House of Cards which is, of course, very much associated with Netflix in the U.S, the UK and Ireland (although I think I am right in saying that Netflix don't actually make the show themselves).

They show it on TV in these countries because they don't have Netflix, so it gets a TV airing, I believe.

A much nicer logo than the UK version - at least its 3D rather than the flat gradients used on the Sky channels here. Disappointed by the idents, usually Sky Itlaia are great at things like this.

I saw this the other day. It's quite nice.

It's better than just slapping a logo on top of some Art College footage. It shows a level of effort, which Sky seem to have been bereft of as late.

The new Sky Disney ident is absolutely amazing I don't know who sky movies have contracted but I tell you it's top notch!

I think it's an in-house effort from Sky Creative.

I would imagine the animation was by the Moving Picture Company. They worked on the original ident and the special Bond 007 ident. You can always tell something is lacking when it fully in-house Sky Creative effort. eg The 2 new Sky Atlantic idents and some of the final Sky1 2008-2011 idents.

Sky1 has introduced special presentation for the new series of 24: Live Another Day including an live countdown ident, stings and social media menus.

Bloomberg reporting that BSkyB is in talks to acquire 21st Century Fox's 55% stake in Sky Deutschland and its wholly owned stake in Sky Italia to create the elusive pan-European Sky that was originally envisaged before News Corp's attempts to buy BSkyB derailed.

Would be an interesting development for a whole range of reasons, branding among them.

Has anyone else noticed the awful alignment in the Sky1 HD logo used on trailer endboards?

The '1' is slightly too far over to the right and the 'HD' text is completely unaligned.
