I miss those days, I hope someone gets rid of the Home of sport idents on Sky Sports they are rubbish.
I wish they had something with the similar sort of energy as the first Premier League match. It's stuff like that to get people excited that's needed rather than indie music played over Ford cars.

Here we go, here we go, here we go this is it yeah that was a great super Sunday theme tune certainly got me ready for the big match it's just not the same now it has to be said the premier leagues main theme tune is pretty good by David Lowe.
That theme was great but of its time - it goes on for literally for ever and was designed to be largely talked over (apart from the actually sung bit).
I quite like "Written in the Stars", however, although I'm not so big a fan of the MNF and SNF themes. The Setanta Premier League Live theme is very catchy. BT don't do title sequences so we don't hear very much of their theme.
The Setanta one is pretty good sadly only now heard in the Republic of Ireland and the global premier league theme is very good but carried by nearly no broadcaster in full
Sky1 could do with launching some new idents. For the first time since the program specific idents were introduced in late 2011 replacing the mirrored '1' look all the current idents are now out of date. Stella, Duck Quacks Don't Echo, Strikeback, The Kumars, Mooneboy, Moonfleet and Yonderland are the only idents used at the moment and all of these shows have finished their current seasons. None of the current and upcoming shows in April have idents, probably because they are all US imports - About A Boy, Intelligence, Star Crossed, Modern Family, The Simpsons, Futurama, NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii 5 0 and 24 Live Another Day. This would be a great time to launch a new look and ditch the current awful idents in favour of non program idents.
I don't know why they ditched the mirror 1 idents in the first place. Was there a specific reason does anyone know? I know Sky always like programme specific idents, but why not just mix them in with the generic idents? It seemed to work well with the previous look with generic idents like boxes, wack a mole etc then the programme idents like lost and bones.

They were said to be temporary when they were introduced. To be honest, while better than the mush they have now they themselves were not a patch on the stuff they replaced.

Thats very true, I loved the previous look, not sure how long that look lasted, but it never looked old or got boring. And the christmas idents were lovely.
I seriously think Sky need to look at it's branding package I've seen Sly Deutschland do better and Sky italia, Sky Sports News HD could be so much better and innovative in terms of its graphics like ESPN Sportscenter in the US or Star Power in India, Sky need to start doing this.

Do they actually have any operational link to the European companies using the Sky name? I was under the impression that they are wholly-owned by Murdoch and license the Sky name from BSkyB?
