'New Series' section.

Which will be rendered useless by Sky putting "New:" in front of loads of their programmes whether they are new or 30+ years old.

Programmes listed in the 'New Series' section don't include the prefix 'New' in their title. They are stacks of all showings of up to the first four episodes of any new series.

It saves someone having to search the TV Guide for anything marked with the prefix 'New', which I'm sure could be tiresome. I believe that previously it's been the broadcasters who have prefixed the programme titles with "New: . . .", not Sky.

The current system used by Sky is to put the word 'New' before the title in the EPG and they are constantly putting it before programmes that are not new. Just because the new system will involve setting a flag instead doesn't mean they will be any more accurate with the data.

As much as marketing departments might want to believe it, I doubt anyone is searching through the EPG for the word 'New'. I realise that broadcasters are responsible for their own EPG entries, but this is a Sky thread so I was talking about Sky as a broadcaster.

The 'New Series' tab includes ALL broadcasters on the platform, not just Sky-owned/part-owned channels as far as I can see.

I haven't seen any series in there which aren't genuinely new, but I must confess I haven't checked all of them to ensure they are not just 'new to the channel'. If there are any, it will be in a minority, and perhaps discouraged by Sky as it will diminish the validity of the feature.

Sky must be trying to get Entertainment subscribers to take Sky Sports - Sky 1 and Sky Sports 1 are currently simulcasting the Man Utd vs Olympiakos match.

I think the reason they decided to do this in the first place was an attempt to get Champions League exclusivity. Didn't work though.

A very rare sight of a promo for a new show 'XIII' coming to Sky2. In all my time as viewer of Sky (since 2008) I have never seen a promo for the channel except for a Simpsons ''Doughnut Week'' Marathon which were all repeats. In the past this would have been shown on Sky1. I have noticed on the EPG that Sky Livingit sometimes has brand new shows but are not advertised. It would be good to see these repeat channels developed in the future for new US and other International imports as an alternative to the main channels which focus on home-grown comedy and drama. HD simulcasts would be needed though.

Oh wow. Sky really can't make their minds up about Sky2 can they? One minute they're paying attention to it as a proper channel, e.g. premièring episodes of The Simpsons, and teasing 'Sky2 HD' during break bumpers, the next they're treating it as Sky1+1 (which it was for a while).

There was a trail very recently for Sky2's coverage of the Pistorious trial. Interestingly Sky2 has been dropped from the trails since the trial actually began.

Not branding related, but I've just noticed their airing the Pistorius trial special on Sky Sports 2

Sky1 and Sky1 HD no longer have separate presentation feeds. All break bumpers and idents now use the Sky1 logo on both SD and HD channels. Promos, ECPs and IPPs are still using the Sky1 HD logo on both feeds. Continuity announcers also referring to the channels as 'Sky1 HD'.

That's a shame as the sky1hd logo seemed balanced compared to sky1 only, potentially because it's just a numeral.

That is a bit poor taste IMO. One thing airing it on the news channel or even Sky Sports News, but it isn't sport and shouldn't be treated as such really.
