No wonder Sky1's idents are in such a poor state with an attitude like this...

I don't think it's Mr Murphey's attitude that is the issue here

Sky One idents have been poor for a number of years now, Sky Sport's main ident "The Home of Sport" is awful as well, everything else is pretty good, its only Sky Movies that has great idents now, you can tell a lot of effort has been put into those.

Personally, I think Sky 1's idents are fine and do exactly what is intended: they identify the channel at the same time as promoting the channel's prime content. The clips may occasionally be a little iffy, but mainly I think they are well executed - Got to Dance, Yonderland, All Aboard, Moonfleet...

I see absolutely no problem with this response. Stuart has been perfectly polite in the face of someone slating part of his channel.

I have to disagree that Sky1 idents are fine. If they want to go down the road of just showcasing primetime shows with a logo fading onscreen fine. The problem is the use of up to 5 different style logos which is very inconsistent. Another problem is about half of the idents forget to use the glass refraction effect behind the transparent 'Sky' and 'HD' sections of logo. There is obviously no branding guidelines for presentation at the moment and because of this presentation is a complete mess. A good idea would to be create a standard logo animation for use across the entire network of channel idents for consistency. All idents, stings and promos would use the same style logo and animations. Sky Arte in Italy has a very nice logo animation which I think could be adapted for the Sky Channels.

Im not talking about him being rude, I agree it is a polite answer. My problem is his attitude towards Sky1 idents and that he fails to see how poor the current set is. There is no chance of Sky1 improving its presentation with an attitude that the current ones are fine. In the past he said that he prefers people to be honest and to challenge issues rather than nod along and go with the flow, which is why I aksed if Sky1 will imprve its presentation. I'm just surprised he ignored and dismissed my suggestion.

He fails to see how poor the current set are because its his opinion that they are fine. He is entitled to an opinion, and you are yours. He let you express yours without him stating you had an attitude.

SKY1 will become SKY Onesie for 1 day, 01 Jan 14.

From Digital Spy:

Quote:
Sky 1 will be renamed Sky Onesie for the entirety of New Year's Day tomorrow (January 1).

The channel's temporary moniker aims to encourage viewers to snuggle up in front of the television wearing onesies, in a bid to recover from the previous night's celebrations.

Highlights of Sky Onesie's programming will include the premiere of David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive - a 90-minute film which sees the broadcaster explore the iconic London museum at nighttime - at 6.30pm.

Attenborough previously said of the documentary: "I have been coming to the Natural History Museum since I was a boy. It's one of the great places to come to learn about natural history.

"In this film, we have the technology to bring back to life some of the most romantic and extraordinary extinct creatures that can be conceived; some are relatively recent animals like the dodo, others older like the dinosaurs, and some we only know through fossil evidence."

Other programmes in Sky Onesie's schedule include a feature length version of Ray Winstone's smuggler drama Moonfleet and another chance to watch the double-bill special of Mad Dogs: The Finale.
