That looks like a proper new logo. The "Sports" lettering is in a slightly different font, and the logo now has round edges.

Its good to see that a proper Sky logo will be used throughout their channels now. I think it looks alright.

Hello skyfan. Please could you tell me some places where you think Sky have problems or have made mistakes.

Thanks

Just using the new Lowercase logo is not enough, it has to be used well. Sky 1 2 3 and Sky Arts make perfect use of the logo, Sky Real Lives has their own way of fitting it in, not ideal but will do for now, and Sky Travel is just a poor logo design.

If the rumours are to be believed, then Sky Sports' Controller wanted the logo uppercase, and so they are stuck in a difficult position of not being able to move away from the current red and blue rectangle layout.

Sky Sports is a powerful brand in itself, and so something has to give, but that supposed sky sports 4 logo is a bad compromise, as it makes the new sky brand seem small, and the alignment is poor.

IMO they should go for a fresh new logo style for sky sports, which uses the new sky "glass mark" and move away from 1998's Red and blue rectangle format...

Does anyone have access to Sky Sports publicity material on image.net, are there any new logos there for Sky Sports or Sky Sports 4. If so, then this change looks to be true, and I guess we have to hope it looks better on screen, or if it is a temporary stop gap till a new brand is ready to go live.

This is a problem in your mind, the shape of the S is consistent, and the two logos work well side by side...

The Schedule is based around segments dedicated to a presenter, and how is the schedule messy, its just News with the odd Tech Programme here and there???

Compared to the days of 1998-2002's Trashey Youth Reality Shows, and US Imports, the new Sky 1 has more focus on drama, and quite a few original shows alongside good US Shows...

You say that mismatched branding is a problem, yet when a clearly mismatched lowercase Sky logo and uppercase SPORTS are presented, completely inconsistent, you say it's OK.

Weird.

It just looks like its emphasising the 'SPORTS' rather than Sky now. It doesn't feel right.

Sky Deutschland has the right idea.

Sky DE has consistency, but those logos alone would have no brand presence, and would not work alone, as opposed to part of a group of channels, which is the selling point for sky in germany.

Sky Sports logos work well with the advertising boards at sports stadia, and is compact enough to fit in a rectangle in various forms of media. The sky logo itself has ascender and decender requirements, which need it to have space around it, however this causes issues when enclosing the logo in any kind of space, which an all uppercase logo does not have, so shoehorning it into the same blue space is not acceptable, and really a new logo should have been designed which works well with the ascenders and decenders like Sky Arts, and Sky 1,2,3.

But it is the rectangular enclosure which makes the current Sky Sports logo so flexible and fitting for advertising boards etc, and finding a compromise will be difficult, and a new sympathetic logo (sympathetic to the sky wordmark with its ascenders and decenders) needs to be designed, and its use on ad boards, posters, etc will need rethinking...

Agree with that
