Sky Sports idents are very poor with those home of sport idents, its not really acceptable for a premium channel.

I agree, the idents don't even have individual logos for each channel. It just has 'Sky Sports' - no reference to whether its 1, 2, 3 or 4. Sky Sports and Sky Living are probably the worst pres culprits at the moment.

Quite a few changes coming up to the movie channels this week. Along with the new Sky Movies Disney channel, they're renaming and merging a couple of others - Indie, Modern Greats and Classics are becoming Greats and Select.

Once upon a time, this would have been enough excuse for a whole rebrand of their channels, but they seem to be sticking with their branding a lot more these days!
That means they're closing a channel, as Sky Movies Disney actually replaces Disney Cinemagic.

Or is the plan to free up a slot for the seasonal channel, rather than renaming Showcase for a month at a time (Summer, 007, Christmas etc.).

I've not seen the pres in question, but I'd argue channel numbers for Sky Sports channels aren't really that important. It's not like BBC One and BBC Two which each have different identities. With Sky Sports the brand for each channel is the same and the content could in theory be moved around to of the channels.

I just seems lazy not to create individual logos. I noticed Sky Arts has also began to do this...

I wonder if its just a coincidence that Movies is where Sky is facing the toughest competition with Love Film, and Netflix.

Sky seems to have lost pride over the years in the way they present themselves.

Shame.

For me nothing will top the Sky Premier look of 1998, even Moviemax and Cinema looked great aswell, their 2002 replacements weren't bad either, it just went downhill from 2003, when they introduced Sky Movies 1-9.

Very good tie in of both the Sky Movies & Disney idents, it works well imo. The only thing is that maybe the sponsorship breaks it up a bit. As there are no adverts during sky movies, could they not have the sponsorship before the ident and then at the end of the film?

The oddest thing is Sky Sports News, which has its own unique ident but was redone after Christmas to just read "Sky Sports (HD)" (and the voiceover changed from "Your Home of Sports News" to "Your Home of Sport". Its slightly odd (particularly when it retains the "24 Hours a Day, on PC, on Mobile, and in stunning HD" voiceover but given that its almost always followed by the TOTH sequence which does have a Sky Sports News logo its probably not so bad.
