Sky are really loving these "dedicated channels" at the moment. Must be a phase marketing is going through.

That's confirmed by Virgin it seems, judging by one of the comments on the article:
Quote:
Sky Movies Showcase and Sky Movies Showcase HD will be rebranded as Sky Movies 007 and Sky Movies 007 HD on channels 403 and 433 / virgin media

Well they can't rebrand Showcase on one platform and leave it untouched on another.

That wasn't his point. He was confirming that it was a temporary rebranding rather than a true new channel, and was using Virgin Media as a reference.

Noticed a slight alteration to the end board on Sky Sports advertisements this morning, with a new animation and font in use - still the same red and blue background however.

Comes ahead of another graphics refresh for Sky Sports News on Monday, according to a reliable poster on DS.

Hopefully there might be some new football graphics as well, probably won't find that out until next weekend.

Plenty of football on this week mind, including internationals.

A very retro looking set for 'The Footballers Football Show', which returns to Sky Sports tomorrow night after a lengthy absence.

Oh, I did like Trollied! Sky1 has certainly gotten better at producing home-grown shows as of late, no?

Just a shame they can't make any decent idents to precede them.

Yes, but Sky have always used the start of the Premier League season to launch their new graphics, including that short-lived period in 2007 when they put the scoreline at the bottom. I also assume the internationals are quite low budget productions, certainly I remember that for a while all Sky Sports productions had animated graphics - the angular italic set from the mid-noughties - apart from Ireland games which just used a static set, seemingly as the facilities they were using for Ireland games couldn't cope with them.

I caught a bit of Sky 3D last night (sadly not in 3D), and I noticed they have introduced a 3D test card to fill the gaps:

The general presentation is also very good. In fact I would argue the style of presentation on Sky 3D is what they should be using for Sky 1, which is a mess.

It's been a pain on the eyes this week, watching cross-eyed to get a faux sense of depth and a squished picture.

However, I've put up a selection of the 'DNA' powder-based idents and 'Touch' live-action idents in the Gallery.
