Did anyone notice the difference in the background on sky world news? Rather than seeing the sky world news ident on the tv screen behind it was behind the presenter. Should we read into this?

They moved back to Studio 2, unpacked Bob Friend from one of the boxes, superglued the brown veneer onto the walls to the left and right of the fake newsroom image, then sat Alan King down to do the World News and suddenly thought...eh...something's missing...

Yes, I saw that today - it looks awful! It's because they've moved the temporary set back to studio 2 where there's no room for a 'soft' area (hence the fact that sportsline now comes from the side of the desk, just like normal sports bulletins). It looks like this sort of thing will carry on until the relaunch at the beginning of September (although I can't see that dodgy world news background lasting long!).
I really don't understand why they bothered transferring the temp set out back to studio 2 at all - now they've got to go for more than a month without a soft area, which seems a bit stupid!

i can't understand why cant they do the likes of sky world news at the desk with the newsroom background the same as the normal news on the hour. They could have done this with sportsline and business report when they were half-hour programmes. CNN has a sports programme with a newsroom background why can't sky?
Ah, a fan of the newsroom by any chance? Using the desk in the soft area gave these programmes a bit of an individual identity, I suppose (even if they weren't particularly distinctive!). Mind you, I seem to remember Business Report coming from the main desk, with adapted backgrounds at some point.

ok so sky world news got its independance in a way but is this the cost. They should use the desk untill the relaunch they cant leave this sort of background for weeks. It would be like a bad nightmare!
