Sky+ won't playback programme

I recorded a programme yesterday but when I go to watch it today it won't playback.

All other programmes stored on the drive play fine but this one programme won't. The info box says it has recorded fine and used up 1% of the drive as normal. When pressing play or select nothing happens and the backup key then doesn't work. The only way out is to either press one of the TV Guide buttons, the Sky button or the Off button.

The box is a brand new Thomson Sky HD box installed this Wednesday just gone and I don't expect a problem this soon. I'm worried that if one programme won't play now then I can see this problem reoccurring in the not too distant future.

Hope anyone can shed some light on this problem.
Cheers

Try unplugging the system, leave it for 2 minutes, plug it back in, and HOPEFULLY that will work. Hopefully!!!

It's not uncommon for my Sky+ 160 to do that. I just unplug it and leave it for a while. It plays, but doesn't cure...

On the subject of Sky Digiboxes being utter sh!te, does anyone know why my Sky+ occasionally goes into a "click and beep" epileptic fit now and again?

Did this start a few days ago when the first pictures of the new London 2012 logo were broadcast?

Larry, I could be wrong, but that sounds like the hard disk in it is on it's way out.

No digital hard drive recorder system is perfect but sky+ is still 100 times better than V+ is. Which (for me at least) was about as slow and unstable as 2 nuns drving an old skoda.

The only problem I've had with my Sky+ recently was when I tried to play a 2 year old Star Trek: Enterprise episode (the oldest thing on the disk) and it said I needed to upgrade to Sky One to get it - a channel I have had a subsrciption to for 10 years!

Of course Customer Services were no use, and I didn't want to waste more time trying to explain the impossible to someone in India, so I simply deleted it and recorded it when it was next shown and have since transferred it to DVD.

Very annoying though. It could have been a once-only programme. Shocked

The only problem I've had at the moment is some shows/movies on Anytime TV telling me I need to update to view, but I subscribe to the channel. However, it seems to be a very common problem with the latest software version, so I'm just leaving it until they update the box again.

One strange problem I'm getting at the moment on the Sky+ box is when I type in a channel number, for instance changing channel from 401 (SSP1) to 106 (SKY1) the box chaned to Music Choice. The same happened again when I went from 106 (SKY1) to 101(BBC1) the box changed channel to 121(Bravo???)

I've noticed it a few times over the weekend (whilst I've been at home in UK) but today was very noticeable!

Hi Crispin

Sorry to have to give you some bad news, but, my Thompson SKY HD has just gone back to Thompson! The box is knackered, basically it was doing the same as your box and it had major problems rewinding and in fast forward, then it started turning itself off and it was almost impossible getting it to come back on again. The last time it turned itself off - I couldn't get back on again for 2 days, that was the straw! I rang Sky and they've arranged for it to be fixed.

So good luck - but if I were you I'd get it replaced while its still in the 14 days.
