There is a flash of the sky corporate logo at the beginning of the TOTH sequence on Sky Sports News. Personally it looks in your face - as if it's trying to tell viewers on SSN and Sky Three "Get Sky Now. Get Sky Now. Buy Sky. Now. Buy Sky"

Oh I sense a bit of a negative nancy!
He's right though, they use their freeview presence to promote pay tv, wouldn't you if you were Mr Murdoch? Perhaps there might be subliminal messages in the break-bumpers too advertising the prices for each subs package!
Promoting Sky, by improving the programming on a free channel, I think its not a bad idea, but remember, Freeview viewers arent exactly getting a bum deal, Sky do not have to put channels out there for non-subscribers.
You get 3 free channels to watch, and all you have to put up with is the occasional, sky channel trail and sky digital advert...

I know what you mean, they are getting a considerable number of programmes shown on Sky One only a year ago (and before the mainstream channels show them). Although, having said that, I still believe the £430+ I pay each year is still well worth the money for the choice I get.
I know Sky had a bit of a disaster with Sky Two the first time round (01/10/95 - 30/09/96), but they should have had the courage of their convictions and launched Sky One Mix/Sky Mix as just plain Sky Two in 2003. (I think it was the multiplicity of cable providers which caused the problem last time - I know mine at the time
Comcast Teesside
was unwilling to charge punters an extra £1 a month, no doubt the others were the same).
It almost seems as though they are hiding their previous mistake now by launching/renaming it behind the launch of Sky Three.
Personally, I think it's nice to see a "family" of entertainment channels from Sky on the front page of the EPG (I bet UKTV are unhappy about G2 being pushed to page 2). It shows a sensible strategy from Sky, and the Freeview element just adds an additional marketing dimesion IMHO.
