What will happen to Sky News Arabia and Sky News Australia?

Sky News Australia was a joint venture between Sky, Channel 7 and Channel 9, but News Corp Australia bought the channel outright years ago. Now that Sky is leaving the Murdochs by next month, will the Australian channel be renamed (like The Australian TV)?

Sky News Australia could keep its name if they're able to license the Sky News brand.

If News Corp Australia owns the channel, it already licenses the Sky News brand from Sky.

If the initial joint venue had multiple owners and not just Sky, it would have also licensed the brand from Sky.

In fact even if Sky had owned it outright, it probably would have still been a separate legal entity and therefore also needed to license the brand from Sky.

I wouldn't be surprised if even Sky News UK licences the brand off Sky (or whatever offshore company owns the trademark).

That was until yesterday when 21CF sold their shares in Sky plc to Comcast. Now that Comcast is the majority owner of the British company, I wonder how News Corp Australia (controlled by the same people behind 21CF) would react with Sky News Australia.
Edit : I wrote this just before Whataday fixed the post above.

So if my flaky maths is right 21C Fox's stake was worth: £11.6 billion (672,783,139 shares x £17.28=11,625,692,641)

And Comcast valued the company at £29.7 billion

Hence why did Fox bid so low? I think Fox didnt want full control but wanted a nice FAT profit coming its way...

There’s a point at which any purchase just isn’t worth the money. Indeed, some of Comcast’s own shareholders think they’ve overbid.

And it was an odd situation where Murdoch had already agreed a price to sell 21st Century Fox, including their holding in Sky, to Disney. So it’s likely that there was a price for Sky built into that deal that they weren’t willing to go over.

The UK government gave approval for the takeover back in June:

Or they know the company better than Comcast do and they know it's not worth that much?

Or look at it a different way.

21st Century Fox has an agreed takeover bid from Walt Disney at a particular price.

In that context it didn’t really matter to Murdoch who won and at what price.

If Fox won, he’d be selling Fox, including its now wholly owned subsidiary Sky, to Disney at a particular price.

If Comcast won, he’d be selling Fox’s 39% stake in Sky to Comcast, and still be selling the rest of Fox to Disney at the same price.

Comcast are having no problems raising the cash to pay for Sky ....

.... they could it seems have paid a lot more, without much difficulty.
