So Universal TV will now be a sister channel to Sky 1/Sky Witness etc?
A distant relative, I suspect the NBC Universal/Sky staff will remain separate unless Comcast wants to merge them both into one/restructure. But its early days.
Comcast when they bought NBCUniversal was incredibly quick to integrate the Comcast owned networks under the NBCUniversal umbrella. It wouldn’t surprise me if they do the same NBCUniversal Networks International or move those existing networks under the Sky umbrella.
However they said they did plan on running it as a seperate company. As far as I know they kind of treat NBCUniversal the same way - aside from vertical integration (merging the networks to one group), their cash infusion and initial management changes NBCUniversal seems to standalone (however that doesn’t prevent them from various forms of synergy).
I do wonder if Sky News will be considered a defacto subsidiary under the NBCUniversal News Group reporting to Deborah Turness for more strategic news gathering services. I imagine they’ll be on the daily conference calls. Now SkyNews is a member of ENEX would the footage (assume in packages) be available to NBC News even though CBS has the US exclusivity?

I suspect any new news pooling/sharing arrangements with NBC would probably change Sky's existing relationships.
ITN and NBC at one point were sharing resources (including correspondents). I don't know if this is still the case, but if it is I expect it could change now.
Probably. I’m betting Deborah Turness brought him along and offered him a lot more money. Odd thing is he’s not on regularly - compared to Keir Simmons.
Then again Keir is a general correspondent, covers serious stories and willing to do some of the fun/ silly segments. He’s also filled in several times in the fourth hour of Today.

If this deal goes through, you can imagine that there will almost definitely be some sort of working relationship with NBC News, MSNBC, SkyTG24, Euronews and SkyNews. Comcast isnt buying Sky just for prestige. It has to have strategic value to the corporation overall. Most surely all of the international news division will fall under the purview of Ms Turness, (if they dont appoint another global oversight officer and leave her to oversee Euronews) even if they are run locally. NBC Universal is a huge beast and they didnt get that way by mistake.
It might not happen anytime soon. But you can expect the NBC peacock to appear alongside Sky logo. Since they bought NBC Universal from GE, Comcast hasnt been shy about slapping the NBC peacock on everything. Including adopting it as their own corporate logo. Its not a question of if, its when. Look at Euronews. They dont even own it and they popped on the peacock. It probably wont appear on channel logos but likely will be part of the new corporate logo.

Im still confused why sky bid lower.. For sky it only needed to buy 61% while comcast has to buy 100%???
Oddly though 21CFox don't have to sell their stake, in fact according to reports they are considering their options. Meanwhile Comcast are buying up Sky shares on the open market for their current value, which is slightly less than their bid price.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-23/comcast-beat-fox-in-39-billion-sky-auction-what-happens-now Which all makes me wonder what the point of the auction was except just for investors to get the official nod from the Sky board to sell to Comcast?
Remember that it's only once a company gets above 90% ownership that they have to purchase the remaining 10%

So we could get to the point where fox still holds on to its 39% share? ( what I meant was FOX could have paid £20 a share and still cost less than Comcast)

Comcast as at start of business today have already purchased on market 29.1 pct of Sky and have today posted their bid document for the remainder including the 21CF stake. Holders of the 70.9 pct including 21CF now have the choice to sell on the market their shares to Comcast or alternatively wait for an off market transaction in mid October, This will be marginally more beneficial as no market dealing costs will be incurred. 21CF's share will almost certainly be part of the off market settlement when it occurs.
