Before Sky Q, former Sky customers could just buy a receiver and connect to the Sky antenna.

What's the difference with Sky Q? Is it not a standard LNB?

This seems a good explanation:

I was having a little mess around the other day and my result was much simpler.

That looks good

But would the channels have the peacock in their logo?
I honestly think it would ruin the consistency of it though

Maybe Sky News to connect it to CNBC and Sky 1.

The only channels Comcast applies the peacock to when they bought NBC was the Golf channel and the RSNs (Previously known as Comcast Sports Net (City)) which almost immediately fell under the NBC Sports umbrella and recently became known as NBC Sports (City).

I think they’ll add the peacock to the corporate logo. For all those saying they won’t go down this road - let’s not forget the current Sky branding is toxic to some given the links to Murdoch.

Funnily enough though - when I mentioned this takeover to my dad (who has Sky Q), his first comment was “I bet prices will be going up then”.

The NBC Sports and SkySports links will be interesting. NBC is the main broadcaster of the Premier League in the USA. And they have really ramped up production at their facility in CT, so you can imagine there will be behind the scenes cooperation between the networks for football coverage, as they both have rights coverage in each country. You can imagine them using the same pitchside reporters and probably prematch coverage and maybe even commentary for matches they share.

Maybe they won't add the peacock the the Sky brand at all.
I mean, cable services operated by Comcast in the US use the Xfinity brand.

But... what will happen to the Sky brand in Brazil (owned by AT&T/DirecTV) and Mexico (owned by Televisa and AT&T/DirecTV), where they use the Sky brand under licence from Sky plc?

Brazil doesn't even use the Sky logo, they have their own. Mexico does though. If it's under licence I'd imagine that can continue as it is. Until a couple of years ago, they were using Sky Brasil's logo instead of Sky UK's, so clearly there's no rule saying they have to use the UK branding.

The primary purpose of Comcast's recent European acquisition wave is expanding its key NBC brand to a global audience. With that in mind, I think it's barmy to suggest they won't roll out the NBC branding. Sky is a Murdoch legacy. Give it 2 or 3 years. NBC will be a household name in Europe. As for the Xfinity brand, that's an interesting one to watch. I wonder if NOWTV could adopt its brand?

Sky's an incredibly strong brand. All I expect in the near future is an 'A Comcast Company' tag beneath the corporate logo.

Since NBC/Comcast owns Sky, will we be seeing NBC come back as a linear TV channel?
