i got a letter through this morning confirming that my sky subscription has gone up in price; now £43.50.
Didn't they start rising the price last month?
I think that it comes into effect from 1st September, but not completely sure.
As for he decline in quality of Movies, couldn't this simply be put down to the fact that films, in recent months and years, haven't been up to scratch?

I wouldn't have thought so. The proportion of good movies to rubbish movies has been largely the same since film making began.

Compared to other packages in Europe, Sky Movies is actually quite good, having said that I tried to cancel but they offered me Sky World at a discounted rate for three months, so I took it, but I will be looking to cancel that after it runs out.
We've never had Sky, we've always been on Cable, since the days of NYNEX in fact. Anyway but NTL Telewest are sending a nice letter out to all of their subscribers saying (cutting a long story short here) that because Sky is charging more, we have to...
What I can't help but notice when I was at work earlier, the amount of bleeding Sky leaflets there are in the Newspapers, but what annoys me more is it more of a recent thing to be offering Sky Sports and Sky Movies free for a period of time? I remember the days of Sky Analogue where you had to buy the box, pay for the installation and then pay for the programming. They seem to be more keen on attracting new subscribers rather than being loyal to their existing.
Though we get the same pap through the door with NTL, heck we even had a call offering us Broadband the day after we had it installed! But they're working on things, increased broadband speed, new channels when they can and Video On Demand.
From working in Retail, I can say that Customer Loyality is crucial, and if Sky are going to keep jacking up the prices all the time, they're going to start to loose subscribers, to other services such as Freeview, the only decent thing you're really missing is the Football, everything else on Sky is either pap or is shown elsewhere, has been shown elsewhere previously, or is available on DVD or the Internet.
