Unless they're planning on changing the entire design of all Sky logos, that's the only change to the logo I can see happening.
Once upon a time, I'd have expected this, given how they used to completely change the look of their channels at the drop of a hat. It's astounding how restrained they are at this these days.
It'll be interesting to see if the change now means that Sky's favoured sports (football, golf, cricket, and Formula One) are now going to be prioritised over other sports. The new scheme apparently sees one channel (Sky Sports Arena) hosting all of Sky's rugby union, rugby league, GAA, NFL, tennis, WWE, non-PPV boxing, anything else that doesn't fit into the chosen few. Now Sky Sports Mix and (exclusive to Sky TV) the red button are available for overspill, but I can see over the next few years Sky downgrading if not outright dropping some of these sports. The new dispensation, with dedicated subscriptions, makes it impossible to spread these sports around the channels the way they are at present.
Not overly keen on the font, especially if they persist with the dramatic presentation they still stand by. Is it so much to ask to have something that isn't in slow motion accompanied by drums and strings?
Could Sky Sports Main Event be the new name for Sky Sports Box Office? No need to keep the Box Office name now that the PPV movie channels are no more.
They've finally updated the font for the Sports logo. Only took them several years. Still see the old logo outside pubs and bars though advertising that they show live games inside. I've seen pubs get a new banner made but the logo on it was from the 90s! Did they pick it themselves purposely or did the sign maker just search Google and pick the first Sky Sports logo they could find?
