It is not an issue - it is a commercial decision as confirmed by Sky.

The word issue suggests something is broken, when actually it isn't, it's working as Sky intended.

They won't admit that publicly however, hence the wording of the tweet.

The red button stuff is still in 704x576 but the bitrate is better then the SD Sky Sports channels I don’t think we will ever see these services in HD.

I doubt the people on at the O2 working on the broadcast (the second tweet was location tagged) will know the ins-and-outs of what's available to which customers.

Sky Sports Darts will launch for the World DARTS Championship.

I assume this will replace Arena or Action and therefore relegate more stuff to the red button which some customers cannot see.

Surely it will replace Sky Sports F1, which will serve little purpose until early next year.

Would make most sense to replace SSF1 I'd have thought.

Hatton Cross
Which it did in 2015..

This is an "untouchable" channel for them, mostly because it uses the F1 branding

I can’t remember what they did last year, but for the 2016 World Championships, they definitely replaced the F1 channel with Sky Sports Darts.

And what about the people who don't already subscribe to the F1 Channel? Will they get another channel for free?

If so, is that fair on the ones who do subscribe to F1? Would they lose their F1 and have to pay to keep it's replacement that they don't want?

What about if they are under contract and can't change their package?

What about people on Sky Q with no box sets that will go from two general sport channels to one DARTS channel and one general sport channel with other stuff moved onto the red button they cannot get?

What if they just ended this nonsense and went back to numbered channels but making each number a home of a particular sport but retaining the flexibility to show other stuff when needed?

The simple fact is this sport by sport channel stuff is great in theory, but in practice it's a major fudge. If they want to do it properly they need more channels and if they don't want more channels they should abandon it.

I’m pretty sure it was the 2016 world championships which was majorly in 2015 with the final in 2016
