In a way non-Sky Sports subscribers have benefited most from the change as Mix seems to be the first destination for premium overspill content, I guess ensuring anyone who subscribes to a specific channel gets the content - otherwise Action or Arena might be the first choice for such content when available.

Rugby union has started using the new graphics this morning, somewhat randomly.

That didn't stop Sky doing different studio coverage on both the Northern Ireland and Scotland game on Monday.

Yes, and of course they can also do presentation from the ground as well (which in many ways is cheaper, hence why the cheapest football coverage on telly like BT's Conference matches is always done on location.

Anyway, there was build-up for Wales, because as Ireland and Wales are in the same group and both teams were reliant on the other one, they did a combined build-up on Football for both Wales and Ireland with Shay Given and Craig Bellamy as pundits, and interviews from both, like they used to with the Champions League when they would build up to the whole evening and then break away. And then after the match they also reviewed both matches.

However, it was very badly communicated, so it's not surprising many people thought there was no Wales coverage - especially when Bill Leslie just said goodbye at the end and didn't say the reaction would be on Sky Sports Football. But it's not down to the studio.

American football also now using the new graphics.

Rugby league is still on the old set. Incidentally I saw on Saturday that the French host broadcaster was using a (badly implemented) version of the said graphics for their coverage.

I do hope that's in the broadcasting sense and not any other sense…

I've heard that's particularly painful!!

Er...getting past the, em....unusual turn of phrase....the NFL does present a challenge for Sky in that they've no less than six sets of host broadcaster graphics to work with, all of them intent on using up as much available screen real estate as possible, and some of them (NBC, I'm looking at you) with more than one DOG themselves on screen. Necessitates moving the DOG around a bit.

Why can't they get a clean feed and add their own graphics package?

Tried by the BBC last year for one of the Wembley games IIRC. Didn't work out too well. The game and play clocks are the major problem.

There isn't one. NFL haven't seen the need to create a clean or world feed outside of the Super Bowl.

It's the US network production or nothing.
