Sky Sports Revamp

Not sure I'd describe Tennis as a 'minority sport' - particularly given the viewing figures Wimbledon gets when Murray is playing.

It's not exactly archery or fencing...

When I said 'minority' I guess I really mean of lesser importance - to Sky.

Not significant enough to warrant a genre specific channel, instead coverage lumped in with a load of other other less significant events on Action / Arena.

Sky obviously think the golden age of men's tennis has reached its peak as they back out of the sport altogether.

But then if Sky Sports keep backing out of bidding for lower supported sports - in a couple of years, with so little content, they'll have to rename 'Sky Sports Arena' to 'Sky Sports Playground'..

Sky Sports Action joining the tennis 30 minutes after it starts tonight, at 21:30, due to live greyhound racing before it.

Meanwhile none of their Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf and F1 channels are showing anything live after 21:00.

Just been told the tennis will start under the red button.

As opposed to on it.

Same thing. I found out if you do an offline genre search of the planner (disconnect wifi first) you can find red button content listed. It shows there are four streams on the red button next week for Montreal.

What about Arena?

Was showing live rugby.

Sick of that kind of thing and the "Rush to the end of the programme to free the channel up" as well.

They need to add an extra channel called something like "Sky Sports Extra" to allow overspill and an extra channel to shift stuff onto when things like this happen, the whole thing is not very well thought out with just two general channels, as seen by the massive dumbing down of the cricket coverage which is now at it's lowest point ever on Sky.
