For the following days (Thurs & Fri), Sky Sports Main Event takes all day Open coverage (simulcast with SS Golf) & a live Super League game at 20:00 (simulcast with Arena or Action).

The only other live sport that day would be the T20 Blast Cricket match which would presumably be made available to BT viewers on the new Sky Sports Extra ?

Sky Sports Mix’s move to the Entertainment section has triggered a reshuffle affecting some Sky channels:
121/286 - Sky Sports Mix
122/287 - Sky Arts
129 - Sky Living+1
163 (GB), 164 (NI) - Sky2
164 (GB) - Pick+1
170 - Challenge+1
217 - Sky Atlantic+1

Depending on your Sky package:
221 - Sky1 SD/HD
222 - Sky Living SD/HD
223 - Sky Atlantic SD/HD

Huh, didn't know NI had variations like that. What's on 163 there?

Virgin Media's channel line-up for the new Sky Sports follows the order that will be used on Sky Guide, but they're keeping Sky Sports Mix in the sport section.

501 - Sky Sports Main Event HD
502 - Sky Sports PL HD
503 - Sky Sports Football HD
504 - Sky Sports Cricket HD
505 - Sky Sports Golf HD
506 - Sky Sports F1 HD
507 - Sky Sports Action HD
508 - Sky Sports Arena HD
509 - Sky Sports News HD
510 - Sky Sports Mix HD

Same for SD channels from 511-520. If they launch another channel after this they'll have run out of room between the HD and SD channels!

Old:
501 — Sky Sports 1 HD
502 — Sky Sports 2 HD
503 — Sky Sports 3 HD
504 — Sky Sports 4 HD
505 — Sky Sports 5 HD
506 — Sky Sports News HQ HD
507 — Sky Sports Mix HD
508 — Sky Sports F1 HD

511 — Sky Sports 1
512 — Sky Sports 2
513 — Sky Sports 3
514 — Sky Sports 4
515 — Sky Sports 5
516 — Sky Sports News HQ
517 — Sky Sports Mix
518 — Sky Sports F1

Just found this trailer uploaded to Vimeo. At 2:10 the Sky Sports News logo is shown, confirming the rename, along with a preview of the new graphics. And also the new Sky Sports Mix logo is at 2:17

Looks really good. Intrigued as to whether or not they'll be refreshing all the on screen graphics as well - it's all a bit inconsistent right now but I've never known them successfully change everything at once before. What we've seen so far makes me hopeful for something a little more classier and flat than we've had previously.

Fans of rugby, tennis, darts, boxing, NFL, WWE, GAA etc that will be on Arena and Action get a raw deal having to subscribe to two channels when cricket, golf and F1 fans only need one.

Three actually considering they could end up on Main Event, though it's clearly priced so that people will opt for all channels rather than just three.

My understanding is that Main Event is always a simulcast of another channel, and you get Main Event for free alongside the channels you choose, although this isn't exactly clear.

No, it is only available if you have ALL the channels. Which does seem a bit strange as others have said:

From the T&Cs:

Main Event channel: is a bonus channel showing live content from the other Sky Sports channels at the same time as it is available on such channels. Only available with the Sky Sports Complete Pack.

Main Event looks to me like it's there for pubs to stick on as a default channel when there isn't a specific event they are showing.
