From boards.ie; it appears that the tiered pricing for Sky Sports does not apply to Irish subscribers. It is applied to UK subscribers only.
I don't subscribe to Sky but from what I heard from boards is that if you speak to a customer service rep at Sky Ireland by phone or by their Talk to Sky forum; they will say to you that tiered pricing of Sky Sports from July 18th is not available for Irish subscribers. I have no idea what happens afterwards regarding pricing of Sky Sports in Ireland after the relaunch.
One they will do is to change to the new channel names for Sky Sports from July 18th.

I wouldn't take that as gospel just yet, though it's not something I'd be surprised about - Sky knows that there's more of an acceptance of both the concept of pay TV in general, and of higher prices in particular.
But against that, Sky's ROI call centre seem to be always the last to know about any changes to their product.

Don't know why they didn't drop it the last time SSNHQ had a refresh. It's long been moved back down the EPG on Sky and Virgin as well.
I suspect it's got at least a grain of truth in it - I never thought it would last three years tbh (some may remember the very brief previous rebrand in 2000 as skysports.comTV).

Sky Sports has gradually been changing on screen graphics to remove capitals and use more Standard casing for the last 12-18 months.
Test Cricket is latest to get that treatment.

Sky Sports Premier League is the most intriguing one.
Yes they have 126 games, and there is a new daily discussion programme, but what else to fill the airtime?
Unless this another F1 part time channel, and unless there is some deal done at the last rights renewal to allow them to show full games that weren't shown live - I can't see how they are going to fill the hours.
Also, is this discussion/debate show, a Sky Sports production, or showing the PLP/IMG Premier League Today programme, which is actually a very good watch.

Because the channel launches on 18th July, and the Premier League proper doesn't start until 11th August there is lots of filler already on the channel schedule. Such as Premier League Archive, Premier League Classic, Premier League Special, Premier League Daily, Football Years, Football Countdowns. So I expect this sort of content will feature heavily going forward.
So it's basically an archive channel with 5 live matches scheduled a week. Lots of air to fill, hence why I thought it may be required as an overspill from the 'Football' channel. But seemingly not.
It does seem that they are boxing themselves in a bit with these genre specific channels, hopefully not at the cost of some other sporting events no longer being shown or no longer being broadcast live.
