It's not a screenshot, look closely on the left and right sides. Very well done, though.


If that's his mock-up, I congratulate him on making me think that was actually a screenshot from (maybe) Sky Sports HD1's simulcast of Sky Sports News!

Incidentally, there have been some ident changes. The Sky Sports HD idents used to have the logo in silver, now it's in the usual blue and red, but glossy.

Well that would be stupid, but if the widescreen version was only in HD there would be no excuse not to use the full width of the screen for stats.


Exactly - to make the picture look reasonable in HD, you need to ignore the 4:3 safe areas, and use the full frame, but for the SD simulcast you need the 4:3 safe areas (although you could go to 14:9 without too many complaints). The easiest way would probably be to have two seperate graphic outputs of the same studio feed, and keep the SD version 4:3 safe, and HD in 16:9. Whether you'd broadcast the 4:3 safe version in 16:9, 14:9 or 4:3 remains to be seen, but I'd say 14:9 would look best, but 4:3 isn't unlikely.

And yes (to CBBC), my 16:9 version is a mock up. The tab labelled "TAB" should be a giveaway, not to mention the bizarely repeating light patterns in the background... Smile

I wonder if Sky will actually refresh their sports presentation, get rid of Moloko or whatever name is and replace it with proper premiership theme tunes, I bet they won't though!

The Football League theme tune has changed to Candi Statton's "You Got The Love".

Let's hope Moloko's time is up now...

Having just done a quick search for it, I guess they choose not to use it - due to it being awful.

the previous international premiership theme tune was so much better and the judge jules remix of it was awesome, unfortunately it got scrapped to the current one.

those screenshots are looking good mromega, not sure about the music, but lets see tomorrow.
