IIRC the Skysports.com TV name lasted a mere few months. It was quite a silly idea done at the height of the .com boom (ranks with Iceland's stupidity of rebranding itself iceland.co.uk) - made it sound like it was a website which just happened to operate a TV channel, rather than the other way around...

Sky Sports.comTV lasted from mid-2000 to about early 2001, IIRC in the US they did have a channel called Fox Sports.comTV so whether they based it on that I don't know.

With regards to SSN, my only faults with the current look is that there's no 16:9 and the music is becoming very tiresome.

Wonder what songs they would use now if they still did it that way?

Probably;

Good Morning Sports Fans/Morning Report - When Love Takes Over, David Guetta
Football Today/Afternoon Report - Techincolour, Coldpay
Evening Update/Football Tonight - In For The Kill, La Roux
Through The Night - Paparazzi, Lady GaGa

Or probably not. Just what the hell are you talking about? What makes you think a selection of chavtastic chick-friendly here-today-gone-tomorrow pieces of *cough* "music" are suitable for a male-orientated sport channel?

Not wishing to sound rude here, but you're having a giraffe. I would switch off immediately if they started using those tracks...

Anyway, someone on DS is stating that the Widescreen icon is showing on the EPG for tomorrow morning on SSN.

I hope they get rid of their Premiership tune which they've used for years, and start giving us proper theme tunes like they did in the 90s!

Well what did you expect, a channel rebranding in the morning while everyone wakes up!

Most channels these days rebrand after 6.

Done by Sky several times! It was once de riguer of Sky (particularly in the 1993-1998 era) to have a rebrand, like clockwork, every two years or so, accross all of its channels, usually at 6am in the morning.

Thinking about it it would be a bit strange to rebrand in the middle of The Ashes - certainly as a test match is on-going, although usually with Sky Sports revamps there is a mix of old and new for a while, with football changing first and then everything else following suit in the months that follow.
