Sky Sports Refresh - 03/08

Sky Sports are apparantly getting new idents this Monday.

Sky Sports News are also getting a new look, new music, a new look studio with an orange and blue background and also will be in 16:9 widescreen.

Supposed to be the last relaunch before going into HD equipped studios.

Theres also some talk about a new lowercase logo, but that is just rumour.

Widescreen, finally!

Has this officially been confirmed by Sky? I can't see anything about it on the net.

(forgive me if I've missed something, I've been away the last couple of days)

Although I thought that SSN would go 16:9 when they move out of their current building next year, not now.

No hope of returning to the ridculously OTT Sky Sports News intros of yesteryear! You gotta love that old music...

Interesting they say orange and blue background. I think the current studio/newsroom is alright, just add a few plasmas and lights.

It would be nice to get some confirmation either way on the logo, idents and graphics.

My take on it is - the logo will not change - The music and idents will - The general layout of SSN if it goes 16:9 will resemble At The Races (which is basically 16:9 version of the SSN on-screen look)...

I could be completely wrong but I would have thought even when SSN goes HD next year that the regular SD channel would remain 4:3,as presumably the benefit to premium subscribers of the HD version would be the extra info on screen in addition to the better picture quality,obviously.

A 'reliable' informant on DS said that SSN will remain unchanged except for a new font.

That would probably sway towards there being no new logo either.

It won't be anywhere near a full blown revamp but there will be a bit more than just a font change.
