Haven't they always tried to place themselves as the unofficial channel 6?

I think they probably gave up on that idea a few years ago, once ITV2 became such a popular channel and had got the 6th slot on Freeview.

IMHO ITV2 has dropped off in quality hideously since the launch of ITV4, so its claim to "channel 6" is weaker now than ever. My reading was based on them appearing as a "main" channel in the listings of Murdochite papers, as opposed to with the "others" in smaller print.

Is understand your point, especially about the listings issue. However, I wasn't aware that ITV2 ever had any 'quality', even before the launch of their male-orientated brother channel ITV4.

Presumably, with the intention to transfer much of their worst-grade drivel to ITVBe from October, ITV2 will attempt to scratch out some sort of respectable niche as an entertainment channel once again.

I've never intentionally watched anything on ITV2, as I consider myself to have at least an average level of intelligence, and most of their offerings are probably best appreciated by people in a coma. Laughing

It's quite handy if you have a sudden craving to watch 'Love Actually', just switch on ITV 2 and wait no less than an hour or so.

Now now. Don't leave out "Shaun of the Dead" or "About a Boy".

When was the last time they showed WarGames? 5 times in a month just wasn't enough.

Wonder if the original idea was to call it 'Sky SportsCentre', but then wondered how long it would be before ESPN/ABC glared at them in a menacing manner..

There was a Sky Sports Centre for years, a nightly news programme on Sky Sports 1 that I suppose you would call the forerunner of Sky Sports News.

Long after Sky Sports Centre was dropped from Sky Sports 1/2, the programme continued on Sky Sports News at 6pm on weeknights for a while, I think it finally got dropped when SSN rebranded in 2003.

I am thinking this is gonna be a big big revamp of the graphics etc, in a way hoping for the return of the dynamic innovative presentation of the mid 90s

You can kind of make out the on screen graphics in the behind the scenes video (they appear on a monitor off set) and they look like a cleaned up, simplified version of the current graphics. The text seems to no longer be all upper case.

Have wondered why Sky One was never allocated "100" ?

Suspect because the EPG and positioning within it is regulated by Ofcom. Putting Sky One before BBC One would cause questions to be asked. The first 5 slots in the EPG on all platforms are kind of reserved for BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel Four and Channel 5. Even when ITV weren't on satellite, 103 on the Sky EPG pointed you to terrestrial rather than having an alternative channel.

They have put up a couple of pictures of ''News HQ" on Twiiter. No major changes in the graphics by the look of it.

Virgin Media use the 100 slot on their EPG, although it's just a barker for their on demand service, so I suppose that doesn't really count as a channel.
