Sky Sports News will relaunch on channel 401 as Sky Sports News HQ from August 12, offering even more breaking news across a streamlined TV, digital and mobile service.

Launched for the new football season, Sky Sports News HQ will put the viewer at the heart of sports news with a new schedule, upgraded studio and improved digital services including redesigned apps and integrated social media coverage.

Sky Sports News HQ will launch on Sky channel 401, providing viewers with an unrivalled sports news service plus a showcase of other content on the Sky Sports channels. Other Sky Sports channels will move one slot up the Sky digital EPG.

Looking very nice from the behind the scenes video there. It looks like an evolution of the current set, though the furniture seems to be toned down somewhat, however there may be a big desk lurking somewhere.

Am I right in saying tht this will be a return to the journalists being in the background as isn't the current look entirely virtual?

So soon we'll have 'Sky Sports News HQ HD'? Sounds a tad ridiculous.

Who's starting the betting on how long it'll take them to revert to the old name then?

Will there be an LQ version for slower connections?

Kinda reminds me of the old "skysports.com TV" which didn't last very long.

It's tradition, especially after "Sky Sports .com TV".

I wonder will a HD version of the logo be published? will that be a name or a short story?
In these times of social media they shouldn't be creating logos that are so long and thin, at least the more square shaped logos don't have to be scaled down to the point they become illegible to fit the square profile picture shape.

Maybe they should have just called it Sky Sports HQ - leaving the word news in and just tagging HQ on at the end just ensures that everyone will still call it Sky Sports News.

So now Sky will have Sky Sports 1 on 402? Sky Sports 2 on 403?

I despair, really I do.
