It'll be interesting to see how the newer looking studio looks when they do Soccer Saturday and Soccer Special, as you always see more of the Studio when these programmes are on.

The new Sky Sports complex building is not finished yet, so I imagine they are still in the old Sky News building they have been in for some time now.

I just hope it hits Mr Murdoch where it hurts. Sky Sports News isn't enough at all to entice many into signing up with Sky, and removing a 24/7 promo loop from Freeview is surely going to reduce the number of new customers too.

As for the look - HD doesn't mean it has to be cluttered. Just because you have room for more info, doesn't mean it needs to be used - the story tabs actually looked a lot less cluttered before. Considering Sky News did a pretty good job, Sky Sports News has disappointed in it's move to HD.

Is it just me? The channel does not fill the full screen. There is a blurry picture on the right hand side of the ticker that never changes. So that's probably about 10-15% of the screen unused.

The move to HD is a welcome change. I'm also quite glad we get to see the HD graphics on SD; although of course doing this probably wasn't the right decision. According to Big Red on Cable Forum, the Sky HD basics - including SSNHD - will launch on the 3rd September. Until then, I can at least watch the morning programme on SSHD1.

There also seems to be far to many things happening on screen at once, can't remember if it was like this before and it just went unnoticed but in that advert box on the bottom right there seems to be three moving things alone - a sparkle effect around the edge, the small video playing and the animation between the HD and SD channel. There is only so much my eyes can take in one go and I think they are reaching their limit!

This is my big problem with the new look Sky Sports News. There is way too much happening on screen and the eyes just can focus. In addition the text in the sidebar is now way too small. They're using the sponsor logos for the leagues now, which is grand for the English leagues, but for the Scottish ones (particularly the SFL ones) you can only barely make out what it says (eg. "Iron Bru Dvision One" looks really small). Have they stopped mentioning the other leagues? Haven't seen the League of Wales, Irish League, or League of Ireland tables - never mind the continental leagues - on the sidebar yet but have only watched a few minutes yet.

What's good about the relaunch? The TOTH mainly, it's a lot better than it was before. The re-arranged theme with added effects sounds very good - the main problem I had with the theme was that it was rather boring. The melody is just the same few notes repeated over and over again. But with the new arrangement they've added lods of effects and generally made it sound a lot better. The lower thirds and other graphics look a lot better too.

I am watching on standard definition at the moment and all of the text is readable. However the graphics filling the entire width of the screen makes the channel look very untidy.

I don't mind that, it's nice to see a channel exploit the whole width of the screen. However the text on the information panel in the top right is very small, almost unreadable on my set

My Reaction to the relaunch is quite mixed I think the slightly tweaked studio looks better and its good in HD , I am also a fan of the new side panels and in news reports there is profiles and honours lists to add detail to the story its become less of a promotional channel and that new gadget i seen Bryan using looked good .

As for Criticisms well the interviews which are exclusive to sky sports news which we keep getting reminded of oftern arent rellay sports news eg.Jose Mourninho and whilst I don't mind one a day the amount I seen on first fast now means there is less sports news and its meant to be a sports news channel.

Now watching the 30min segment on SS1,

Can understand why they've dropped it on DTT now, the WS makes it look like a highlights package, the graphics can be ignored watching it on my 32" set. It's added value isn't in the HD but the WS in my view. Reluctantly I have to agree that the enhanced value does seem to be in excess of what could realistically be offered for free, shame really but I have to be honest.

Gilette Soccer Special looking very well I must say, much better than the main channel graphics, the sidebar is bigger (though the text is still too small in my opinion) and data about the matches appears in a box on the right hand side.

Gilette Sports Sunday is scheduled in for Sunday 1pm-6pm, so that will be interesting to see if it has its own graphics too...

The videprinter text is tiny, almost impossible to read in SD - perhaps that's the point.

What difference does it being on DTT make with it being in widescreen? It is still going out on cable and satellite in 16:9 SD
