Don't suppose anyone knows what these "major technical problems" are that Sky Sports' infobar keeps informing us of during the cricket coverage that is meant to be England vs West Indies?

I am assuming that they have been unable to show any cricket as we have had highlights of the 2003 Natwest series since I tuned in (about 3pm) and the coverage started at 2:30....

They haven't had much luck - with all the rain and now no TV coverage! And Talksport aren't really much help as they are doing football commentary!

A substantial part of the uplink (possibly including two satellite dishes from various reports I've heard) caught fire, and they had to put it out and bring in some replacement equipment.

Talksport have done coverage but as usual on saturday afternoons its available everywhere *except* the mediumwave frequencies (so DSAT, DAB, internet etc.) They normally piggyback onto one of the satellite audio streams but they also have a standard ISDN line available as a backup.

Thanks William. Just had an explanation and an apology from David Gower as well...

Sounds rather nasty, imagine your Sky dish suddenly catching fire! Bits of burnt and maybe melting metal everywhere!
